I didn't intend on 写作 this originally, but I just felt like venting, so here I go. Being asexual isn't easy, but it's part of who I am. I can't exactly change that. What's hard is some people can't accept it.

I thought that I wouldn't be bullied once I was in college. I still get bullied for being asexual. It's indirectly, unlike when I was in high school. At least, I'm not getting beat up for it.

I overheard one person saying that the reason I'm asexual is that I can't get a date. I could if I wanted to. I have been asked out 由 a few people, but I turned them down. They just weren't my type. One of them didn't even like rock and roll. That's a deal breaker for me.

For the longest time, I've actually been afraid to date. When I was in high school, there was one guy who told me that I would like sex if I tried it. He then told me to meet him after school. I did not meet with him. I went straight home. I'm sure if I had met with him, he would have raped me. After opening up to some of my 老友记 here about it, Layla pointed out to me that I shouldn't let just one incident make me afraid of dating. I'm not currently looking. I'm waiting for romance to find me.
When I started the eleventh grade in August 2016, I was still grieving over Millie. One day, I had a talk with the guidance counselor at my school. I told her, "If I had known Millie was going to die, I would have been 更多 patient with her. There were times I 迷失 my temper with her and just lashed out at her." The guidance counselor put her hand on my shoulder. She said, "Autumn, that's not what Millie remembers. In fact, she told me about all the times 你 and Glenn stood up to bullies for her." I felt better after that talk. I later met Glenn in the hall, and we walked to the lunchroom...

The summer of 2016 started out rather badly. One day, my aunt and uncle and I visited with my paternal grandparents. As we were heading back home, we noticed these two idiots racing each other in their trucks. My uncle tried to avoid them, but there was nowhere he could go to avoid them. They hit the car and drove off without any regard for what they had done. We all got out to see the damage. My aunt said, "It looks pretty bad. I'm glad everyone's all right." She then noticed me staggering. She said, "Autumn, you're hurt." I was taken to the hospital, covered in blood. I had several cuts and...

It was August 2015. My 老友记 and I started the tenth grade, our 秒 年 of high school. The school 年 was mostly good. When Glenn turned seventeen, I came to his birthday party. After the party, he said, "I want to tell 你 that I 爱情 you." I said, "I 爱情 you, too, Glenn." We hugged. Unfortunately, there were some bad points in the year. In the Spring, I 迷失 my first dog, Diesel. I woke up one morning, and all my 狗 were at my bedroom door except Diesel. It wasn't like him to go off 由 himself, so I decided to see if he was okay. I found him lying in the living room. He wasn't...

It was the summer of 2015. One day, Glenn came to me in a state of excitement. He said, "I have some really good news!" I said, "Oh, my. What is it, Glenn." He said, "My parents got tickets for them and for me to see Motorhead!" I said, "Glenn, that's wonderful!" He said, "Yeah. It really is." On the 日 he was supposed to leave, he came up to me crying. "Glenn, are 你 okay?" I asked. "What's wrong?" He said, "My grandfather just died." I hugged my dear friend and said, "I'm so sorry, Glenn." Later, I insisted on flying to Liverpool with him and his parents. His mother asked, "Are 你 sure...

Pretty soon, it was time to start school again. My 老友记 and I were starting the ninth grade, our first 年 of high school. Glenn and I were particularly nervous. One day, some bullies surrounded Glenn. The ring leader asked, "What's up with the cheesy accent?" He said, "I'm from Liverpool, England." The ring leader said, "Oh, you're from the town of those insects. That explains your trashy haircut. 你 should be beaten for that!" I said, "Don't 你 dare beat my friend! If 你 want to beat up someone, do it to me." The bullies gathered around me. "Autumn, no!" Glenn cried. I said, "I'd rather...

The summer of 2014 was perhaps one of the most touching summers in the eighteen years of my life. I decided that it was time for me to admit to Glenn that I used to practice self-harm. I said, "Glenn, I think it's time 你 know the truth about my scars." He asked, "What's the truth?" I said, "Before we met, I was a constant target for bullying." He said, "I know you've been bullied, but I don't think 你 told me the details." I said, "Well, the bullies would often abuse me verbally and physically. To cope, I would take a pocket knife, and I cut." This made Glenn cry. He said, "I'm so sorry....

The eighth grade was the worst school 年 for me. There were a few good parts, but it was mostly bad. First, I had two people who 说 they were my 老友记 betray my trust. There was one girl I told about having endometriosis. I told her about having treatments that failed, so I finally got a hysterectomy over the summer. I told her out of confidence. One day, I went in the bathroom. I found written on one of the stalls, "Autumn is a slut puppy." To make matters worse, other people knew about it. All I heard that 日 was, "Look! There's the slut puppy!" I fell into Glenn's arms and cried....

The seventh grade had good and bad points. In the beginning of the year, Glenn, Joann, and I were heading to our first class. Suddenly, a boy our age ran into Glenn, and both of them fell to the floor. "Bloody hell!" Glenn exclaimed. "Slow down!" The other boy said, "Oh, I'm so sorry about that." He sounded as if he was out of breath. Glenn suddenly became concerned and asked, "Are 你 all right?" The other boy said, "I'm trying to get away from them." A group of bullies started coming in our direction. Glenn got up. He asked, "What are we going to do, Autumn?" I said, "I don't know." Joann...

During the summer, we got a new neighbor. He was a horrible man. He was a gun-slinging, bible-thumping individual if I've ever seen one. He once threatened to kill Glenn because of his haircut. I told him, "If 你 kill Glenn, 你 better make plans for me to kill you!" He never threatened to kill Glenn after that. I wish I could say that was the worst thing he did. One day, Glenn was visiting with me. I went outside for something, and the nasty neighbor took his shotgun and shot me in the upper thigh. I fell to the ground, and I was in a lot of pain. My aunt and uncle rushed out. My uncle took...

It was January, and the school 年 picked back up. Glenn was still on crutches, but he was doing better. At one point, we saw some bullies picking on the new kid. Glenn said, "Come on. Let's get those bullies away from her." I said, "Good idea! I can't just stand and watch someone get bullied." The poor girl was already in the floor. The bullies were ready to beat her. Glenn 说 to the bullies, "Back off! I've got crutches, and I'm not afraid to use them!" The bullies backed away. I helped the girl to her feet. "Are 你 okay?" I asked. She said, "Yeah. Thanks for standing up for me." I said,...

A few months passed, and Glenn and I were becoming ever closer. One day, we got into an argument. I don't remember why we were arguing. I do remember that I went 首页 crying. Later, when I had calmed down, I decided to go over to Glenn's 首页 to make up with him. I rang the doorbell, and his mother answered. I said, "I need to talk to Glenn. I want to make up with him." She said, "I'll tell him you're here." A few moments later, she came back and said, "He's gone." I was in shock. "Gone?!" I cried. "What do 你 mean gone?" She said, "He's not here. He must've run away." I said, "I'll help you...

Some time passed, and Glenn and I were becoming close friends. One day, we had a bad 日 at school. The 日 started out fine, but it ended badly. During the last class of the day, one of my classmates started insulting me. Glenn 说 to her, "You're lucky that boys can't hit girls. If they could, you'd be the first one I'd hit." She said, "But girls can hit boys." He said, "Go ahead. Hit me." She punched him in the mouth. I saw a tooth fly across the room. Glenn put his finger where the tooth was supposed to be. He saw some blood and fainted. I was really scared. Up until then, I had never...

It was September 25, 2011. It was a Sunday afternoon. I was outside, soaking up crisp air. Just then, I noticed some people were moving into the house across the street. We were getting new neighbors. I noticed there was a kid about my age at the house. I decided to go over and introduce myself. I calmly walked over to him. I said, "Hi, there. I'm Autumn. It's nice to meet you." He said, "Hi. I'm Glenn. It's nice to meet you, too." I noticed he had an English accent. I said, "Great accent!" He said, "Thank you. I'm from Liverpool, England." I said, "Like the Beatles?!" He said, "Yeah, like...

After weeks of getting bullied, I was beginning to lose hope. I really needed a way to cope with my sadness. I looked at my Siberian Husky, Diesel, and said, "I wish 你 could talk. 你 could tell me what to do." He could make noises that sounded like he was talking, but he couldn't talk like a person. One day, I saw a pocket knife, and I don't know what I was thinking, but I made some cuts on my leg. It really hurt, but the pain gave me something to focus on other than how lonely I was. It made me forget about all the bullying....for a brief period. I kept doing it. I later heard a song by...

When I started the sixth grade, things seemed to be going smoothly. At lunch time, a group of kids invited me to sit with them. I thought, I'm going to have new friends. Yay! I told them about growing up in Illinois. They didn't make fun of my accent. They explained that the Midwestern accent is the accent that doesn't offend anyone. That's why most newscasters are Midwestern. I said, "Okay. Cool." One of them asked, "What kind of 音乐 do 你 listen to?" I told them, and I named a few bands that I liked. Another one of them said, "It's not 1980. Those bands shouldn't be a thing anymore." I...

When I started the fifth grade, I was dreading it. I heard that the fifth grade teacher was really mean. I thought, Is it possible that she could be worse than my fourth grade teacher? I told my aunt about my fears. She said, "Autumn, don't worry, dear. Maybe she's nice. Just give her a chance, okay?" I said, "Okay." On the first 日 of school, the teacher noticed my Beatles t-shirt. She said, "Darling, I 爱情 你 already!" I said, "Okay, then." I had recently gotten glasses, because I had trouble seeing without them, especially from a distance. Some of the kids called me "glasses". She said,...

I thought that fourth grade would be good. I thought that when I switched school districts, I would have 老友记 for once. Boy, was I wrong! Fourth grade was one of the worst school years for me. My teacher was the meanest, most hateful human being on the planet. She never hurt me physically, but she was very verbally abusive. One day, during a math lesson, I got a 问题 wrong. She took her ruler, pointed it at me, and said, "Class, at the end of this ruler is an idiot." I felt hurt, but I didn't lose it. "Which end?" I sneered. She said, "You damn bitch! 显示 some respect when 你 talk...

All too soon, I started school. I was actually pretty eager to start. I thought I would make some friends. Instead, I was bullied. When I was five years old, my aunt noticed that I was lonely. She decided to get a 小狗 to keep me company. She found a local breeder selling Siberian Husky puppies. She took me there to meet the puppies. They were all so cute. I couldn't choose one. I never did, because ONE 小狗 chose me. He had rust red and white 毛皮 and piercing blue eyes. The breeder said, "I think he likes you." We took him home, and I named him Diesel, after one of the 狗 from the movie,...

I am proud to say that I have a few good friends. They have been so good to me. They see past my scars. Unfortunately, my life wasn't always this good. This is my story. I was born in 1999. When my mother was pregnant with me, she learned that she had cancer. She refused treatment and chose to have me instead. She wanted me to have an opportunity to see the world, to grow and to learn and make friends. When I was born, I turned out to be exceptionally healthy. I was told my mother's last words to my father were "Promise me you'll take care of our little girl." He smiled and said, "I promise."...
