^ Exactly how I feel. I wanted to pick sometimes as there are always exceptions, but generally I like it. So far all of the evil to good transitions just make me so happy. And that's likely because I have this uncanny tendency to see too much good in 'evil' characters. And when it turns out I wasn't just seeing what I wanted to see, that brings me joy!
This is exactly what happened with Regina/The Evil Queen. There was a time on this site where everyone was telling me 'oh you're just seeing what you want to see in Regina, she's just evil and heartless.' And I was all 'no no, guys there's hope for this sinnamon roll yet!' And then there were times when I was just, eh, maybe they're right. But then the thing happened and much character development. థ ◡ థ
^ Me too!
It depends. There are some characters I love that are better as staying 'evil'. But hey, my favorite character turned from 'evil' to good, and I liked that! :D
Eh. Sometimes it can be done well, particularly in proper literature. But I've also been subjected to quite a lot of bad fanfiction in my time at fanfiction. net (I'm sure some of you can sympathise, lol) and the 'evil-turned-good' theme can be extremely misused. Like guys. I love a good Tom Riddle fic but he's a murdering psychopath, please don't try to make him into a warm and fuzzy altruist.
It totally depends on the character and their story arc/redemption arc. It needs to be believable and also some characters are just completely ruined by 'turning good'. Some are just meant to be evil!
I love me some redemption arcs. Obviously there are always exceptions, but some of my favorite characters (Regina, Ingrid, Zuko, maybe Narcissa counts because she saved Harry??? She's more neutral throughout the series) are evil gone good, so generally I love it.
As much as I love my villains I'm all about my villains getting redemption and by extension, happiness.

So yeah. Context is key.
@NCIS I can agree there. Bella's one of those meant to be evil. And it definitely needs to be believable not just *poof* you're good now!
