Perhaps not technically a "gem", but bismuth crystal is very cool. It's an element unto itself (you'll find it on the periodic table) and naturally forms awesome spiral structures. The surface then oxidises to create the iridescent glow of 彩虹 colours 你 see below. A very cool metal.
