What is it about 100 that makes people happy?

I mean, really. When people get 100 粉丝 或者 100 things for their collections (yes, I am talking to collectors) 或者 something like that, they celebrate. But why? Why is 100 such a celebratory number? What about 3? And 8? And 42? And 9,001 (sorry, I just had to do that XD)?

It might also have something to do with popularity. As 你 can see, there are quite some 流行的 users on here. These users have a big lot of fans, thus people who are below 100 think "Oh man, if I had 100 粉丝 I would be just as 流行的 as *insert 流行的 user here*". That might have something to do with it as well.
I also agree with Me_Iz_Here's answer, since that too could be a reason.

So yeah, that's my opinion on the subject.
