Overrated, to me, means books/movies that get really hyped up yet are not as good as the trailers and hype make them up to me.
Example:
Twilight, 2012, Jersey Shore, and The Hangover (only the 秒 one)=overrated
Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Lord of the Rings, Inception=NOT overrated because all 3 are very good films/books that deserve the hype that they are receiving :)
