Speaking of megalomaniac dolphins, there was the son of a gun himself. He had entered her room, rostrum in the air like some sort of smartass. Which he probably was; most of the dolphins she had known were smartasses to some extent.

“Sure, but…” Marlene bit her lip. “…there’s just one problem. See, last time I went outside –“
“—you turned into a vicious, snarling beast with a ferocious lust for Julien,” Blowhole finished. He smirked at her surprised expression. “You forget, I have cameras all over the city. I witnessed the entire entertaining event. And I know how to solve your shapeshifting problem. I’m going to accompany you.”
This surprised Marlene. “Oh really?”
Blowhole nodded. “One of the dolphins I knew years 以前 had the same problem. Whenever he was transported, he would, as your 老友记 so aptly put it, ‘go wild.’ When he was transported with a pod mate, 或者 any other animal for that matter, who did not ‘go wild,’ he would remain calm.” He smirked; Marlene noticed that he was quite fond of smirking. “As 你 may have guessed, I am one of the fortunate 动物 that retains total self control in the wilderness.”
“And I guess,” Marlene added, “you also want to keep a close eye on me. Make sure I don’t do anything with your precious golden statue, right?”
“Exactly,” Blowhole replied, “now, up on your paws. We leave now.”
