Neverland 'Giving Tree'
“I called it my giving 树 because it inspires me. I 爱情 climbing trees in general but this 树 I loved the most because I climb up high and look down at its branches and I just 爱情 it… So many ideas. I’ve written so many songs from this tree. I wrote “Heal the World” in this tree, “Will 你 be there”, “Black 或者 White”, “Childhood”. I 爱情 climbing trees. I think water balloon fights and climbing trees... those are two of my favorites.” – Michael Jackson
Shel Silverstein's poem 'The Giving Tree'
"Once there was a giving 树 who loved a little boy.
And everyday the boy would come to play
Swinging from the branches, sleeping in the shade
Laughing all the summer’s hours away.
And so they love,
Oh, the 树 was happy.
Oh, the 树 was glad.
But soon the boy grew older and one 日 he came and said,
"Can 你 give me some money, tree, to buy something I’ve found?"
"I have no money," 说 the tree, "Just apples, twigs and leaves."
"But 你 can take my apples, boy, and sell them in the town."
And so he did and
Oh, the 树 was happy.
Oh, the 树 was glad.
But soon again the boy came back and he 说 to the tree,
"I’m now a man and I must have a house that’s all my home."
"I can’t give 你 a house" he said, "The forest is my house."
"But 你 may cut my branches off and build yourself a home"
And so he did.
Oh, the 树 was happy.
Oh, the 树 was glad.
And time went 由 and the boy came back with sadness in his eyes.
"My life has turned so cold," he says, "and I need sunny days."
"I’ve nothing but my trunk," he says, "But 你 can cut it down
And build yourself a 船, 小船 and sail away."
And so he did and
Oh, the 树 was happy.
Oh, the 树 was glad.
And after years the boy came back, both of them were old.
"I really cannot help 你 if 你 ask for another gift."
"I’m nothing but an old stump now. I’m sorry but I’ve nothing 更多 to give"
"I do not need very much now, just a quiet place to rest,"
The boy, he whispered, with a weary smile.
"Well", 说 the tree, "An old stump is still good for that."
"Come, boy", he said, "Sit down, sit down and rest a while."
And so he did and
Oh, the trees was happy.
Oh, the 树 was glad.
