This part of my user's guide covers the reporting mechanism and how to use it to maintain good content on the site. It was last updated on 25 December 2009.

As 你 continue to use Fanpop, 你 will come across content that is not what it should be in some way. Since 潮流粉丝俱乐部 is largely only as good as the content it contains, it is important to address these issues for the good of the site and the 潮流粉丝俱乐部 community.

Now, most of the content that "is not what it should be" is likely just content that 你 don't like, and such content should be rated appropriately (see the link). But, rarely, there is some content on the site 更多 problematic than that, and for such content there exists the reporting function. Reporting allows you, the user, to flag something on 潮流粉丝俱乐部 as being wrong in some way, so that it will be fixed.

Here's a handy guide to distinguishing between different types of problem content, and whether ratings 或者 reporting should be applied.

* 你 disagree with a particular user (rate)
* 你 don't like what the user says (rate)
* 你 find the user obnoxious and harassing (ignore)
* The user uses obscene language and/or posts obscene content (report)
* The user attempts to sell a product 或者 encourages 你 to buy a product (report)
* The user consistently attacks and demeans 你 (report)
* 你 suspect the user is actually a duplicate account of another user (ignore)
* Content is 发布 that 你 think sucks (rate)
* Content is 发布 without 密码 (rate)
* Content is 发布 with inadequate 密码 (rate)
* Content is 发布 in the wrong spot (report)
* Content link does not work (report)
* Content link is to a web site which hasn't been updated in years (rate)
* Content link is for a contest which has already ended (report)
* Video link doesn't work embedded (rate)
* Video is short, low-quality, video is out of sync with audio (rate)
* Video requires users to install software on their desktops in order to view it (rate/comment)
* Video doesn't work embedded nor on the 来源 site (report)
* Video is offensive/obscene (report)
* Video takes forever to load (rate)
* Video not what 你 expected (rate)
* Video is unrelated to the spot topic (report)
* Content exactly duplicates other content already in that spot (rate/comment)
* Spot duplicates an existing spot (report)
* Spot seems silly, unnecessary (comment)
* Spot name contains errors 或者 isn't precise (comment)
* Spot is offensive 或者 obscene (report)
* Image is low quality, has no description, and/or fails to have image credits (rate/comment)
* Image has no image credits and 你 know the copyright belongs to someone else (report)
* Soapbox 文章 presents a ridiculous opinion (rate)
* Soapbox 文章 filled with grammatical, spelling and/or logic errors (rate)
* Soapbox 文章 shorter than a full page (rate)
* Soapbox 文章 consists of text from another site/source (report)
* Soapbox 文章 has no pictures (rate)
* Pick has no pictures (comment)
* Pick does not allow users to add 答案 that are clearly necessary (comment)
* Pick is not related to the spot topic (report)
* Pick contains offensive/obscene text/images (report)
* Pick is biased/one-sided (comment)
* The video in a 测试 问题 doesn't work (report)
* 你 don't like a particular pop 测试 问题 (comment)
* There are spelling errors in a pop 测试 问题 或者 answer(s) (comment)
* There are factual errors in a pop 测试 question/answer (report)
* There is no way to know the answer for a pop 测试 问题 (report)

Reporting and comments
To file a 报道 on something, look for the little "flag" icon. This is located in different places, depending on what 你 are reporting. Click on the flag, and a sub-menu will appear, along with a text field for "comments". IMPORTANT: EVERY 报道 SHOULD HAVE A COMMENT! Note, however, that the user interface is poorly designed - 你 must type the 评论 BEFORE clicking the type of report, even though the 评论 box is under the 报道 buttons. Why comment? It is VERY likely that the staff 或者 admins who review the reports on a 给 日 will not immediately understand WHY 你 reported a piece of content, and if it's not immediately obvious, it may not receive any action. It's that simple.

Types of Reports
Broadly speaking, there are three types of reports 你 can file as a 潮流粉丝俱乐部 user.

* Spot reporting: 你 can file a 报道 on a particular spot. To 报道 a spot, look for and click the red flag and the word "report" just below the spot's banner in the upper right. This will open the reporting sub-menu.

* User reporting: 你 can file a 报道 on a particular user.
 报道 abusive user
Report abusive user
To 报道 an user, click on the user's name to go to the user's 个人资料 page. In the left column, labeled "about me", you'll see a bunch of information: the user's 个人资料 pictures, name, country, 最喜爱的 films, books, et cetera. Under that, there will be several links, including one with the red flag and the words "Report Abuse". Click that link to open up the reporting sub-menu.

* Link reporting: 你 can file a 报道 on a particular piece of content on the site. There are eight kinds of content which 你 can 报道 on Fanpop: links, videos, images, soapbox articles, pop 测试 questions, picks, 答案 and 评论 (Note: only 评论 in a 论坛 或者 答案 to an Answer Request can be reported as of 25 December 2009). With each, you'll be looking for a grey, unlabeled flag, in the locations described here:
 Reporting a link

With links, the flag is located just under and to the left of the ratings bar.

With videos, the flag is located just under the ratings bar.

The flag for 图片 is located (as with the video flag) just under the ratings bar.

With 测试 questions, the reporting flag is located on the right, between the 问题 and the 列表 of answers.

The flag for 文章 is just under the 标题 of the article, far to the left of the ratings bar:

The flag for picks is on the right, where the ratings bar would be if 你 could rate picks:

The flag for 答案 is below the 问题 and the "answer this question" button:

Reporting an Answer

The flag for 评论 is below the 评论 itself:
Reporting a 评论 on a 论坛 或者 answer
Reporting a 评论 on a 论坛 或者 answer

What the reports mean
When 你 click the flag, a sub-menu will appear, prompting 你 to select which kind of 报道 你 wish to file. These choices vary slightly, depending on which kind of 报道 你 are filing. To file a report, 你 must click on one of the red boxes, selecting one of the categories of reports.
If 你 change your mind and don't want to click any of the reports, 你 can always click the green "don't report" box in the sub-menu instead.

 Options for spot reports
Options for spot reports

When 你 报道 a SPOT, there are four possible reports:
The spot inappropriate 报道 specifically means a violation of the link. This includes obscene content, spam content, hate speech content, as well as copyrighted content. A spot dedicated to "Robbing Banks" would merit an inappropriate report, as would spots dedicated to "Sex chat", "Downloading mp3s for free" and anything involving a racial slur.

The spot offensive 报道 means content that 你 find offensive. It may not be obscene 或者 a clear violation of the Terms of Service, but 你 find it offensive. "Defeating Atheism" might be a spot to 报道 as offensive.

The spot miscategorized 报道 means that the spot is catalogued in the wrong channel. For instance, if a spot dedicated to the Lynx web browser were to be listed as part of the "Travel & Places" channel, one would be well-justified in filing a miscategorized spot report.

The spot duplicate 报道 means that the spot's topic is already covered 由 another spot that was created beforehand, 或者 that the reported spot's topic is insufficiently different from an existing spot to merit a separate spot. A "Fanpop Kids" spot would likely be reported as a duplicate of the "Parenting" spot, for instance, and a "Great car commercials" spot would be reported as a duplicate to the "Car Commercials" spot.

 Options for user reports
Options for user reports

When 你 报道 USERS, there are three possible reports:

The user spam 报道 means that the user is clearly on 潮流粉丝俱乐部 for the sole purpose of trying to sell a product 或者 service to the other users. An user whose only contributions are to a spot he created for "Greatest Video Downloads", including a link to the site greatestvideodownloads.com and a soapbox 文章 describing how great the same web site is, is an example of an user who should be reported as a spammer.

The user offensive content 报道 indicates that 你 feel that the user in 问题 is regularly posting offensive content to the site, across many spots. An user who posts 链接 to a blog called "Why your beliefs are stupid" to all the faith-oriented spots would be reported with this flag.

The user abusive 报道 indicates that the user in 问题 is abusive to 你 and/or other 潮流粉丝俱乐部 users on the site. An user who regularly rates all your content as a 1 might get an abusive report, as well as an user who regularly posts attacking 评论 in response to your comments, as well as an user who belittles someone's opinions, intelligence, appearance and so forth.

 Reporting content
Reporting content

When 你 报道 CONTENT, there are five types of reports 你 can file:

The content broken 报道 indicates that the content link does not work. This should be filed anytime a link goes to a page that doesn't exist, a link goes to a completely different page than what the link described, 或者 (in the case of videos) the video in 问题 has been removed from the host web site. NOTE: a video link is NOT BROKEN if it doesn't play embedded on 潮流粉丝俱乐部 but does work on the host web site. Some video hosting web sites - YouTube springs to mind - allow their users to specify whether their 视频 may play embedded 或者 not. If the video cannot play embedded, it will 显示 up as normal on Fanpop, but 你 must click the video's title (or the little 《绿箭侠》 link 下一个 to it) to go to the hosting web site and see the video. It is only when the video does not work embedded AND it does not work on the 来源 site that 你 should file a "broken" 报道 for a video.

NOTE: pop 测试 问题 do not have a broken 报道 option. Instead, they are the only type of content to have a bad question reporting option. The bad 问题 flag is used to both indicate when a question's video link is broken (it doesn't play embedded 或者 on the 来源 site) and/or to indicate that the 问题 is incorrect (that is, if the 问题 is wrong). It is also appropriate to use this 报道 if a 问题 requires the user to guess, not because 你 don't know the answer, but because there is no way for 你 to know the answer. For example, a 问题 that asks "What is my 最喜爱的 color?" is a valid 问题 only if that information is available on Fanpop. A 问题 "What is the population of country X?" would be a bad question, but a 问题 "What was the population of country X in 2008?" would be valid, because it can be validated.

The content inappropriate 报道 indicates that the content violates the link in some way. Among other things, this includes sexually explicit imagery, 视频 that contain obscene language, 图片 without proper copyright credits that clearly were created 由 someone other than the user, and soapbox 文章 that consist in large part (if not their entirety) of text that was copied from some other site (ie, plagiarism).

The content outdated 报道 indicates that the content (usually a link) points to a site describing an event that has already occurred 或者 a deal that has expired. A link to a site where 你 can sign up for free e-mail 更新 on the 5th season of "Big Brother" would be appropriate to flag as outdated.

The content spam 报道 indicates that the content is trying to sell something to the 潮流粉丝俱乐部 users viewing it. This one is a little tricky, because most web sites are trying to sell something. But a link to, say, a dating service web site would not be spam if some of the site could be used for free, but would be spam if 你 had to pay money up front to actually get to any content on the site.

The content miscategorized 报道 means that the content has nothing to do with the spot in which it is found, 或者 that there's a better spot for it. A video link to Michael Jackson's HIStory in the link spot would be miscategorized, for instance. That one is obvious, but this 报道 can also be pretty tricky. Would a picture of Carly Simon, who didn't tour 或者 produce any albums in the 1980s (but who was at least alive in the 80s) be miscategorized if it was placed in the link, instead of the link? Would 视频 of 潮流粉丝俱乐部 users' children be miscategorized if they were placed in the link rather than the link? Would an 文章 describing how to be kind to our fellow users be miscategorized if found in the link, rather than the link 或者 link spots? There is some leeway; when in doubt, 你 can always try sending a message to the user who 发布 the content which may be miscategorized to discuss it with him/her.

A note on multiple reports
Just a quick note: 潮流粉丝俱乐部 remembers the reports that 你 submit. So don't try to swamp content with reports, because the site will only allow 你 to 报道 a 给 item once. Any further attempts will be met with the reply "You have already reported this as a <report type> <spot/user/link>".

What happens to reports
So you've found some content that doesn't work in some fashion and have reported it. What happens then?

Reports that users file appear in a 列表 for the site staff and moderators to address. In many cases, the reason that the 报道 was filed will be obvious to them, and the staff and/or moderators will take the appropriate action. However, in many cases it is apparently not obvious why a 报道 was filed, because the moderators will occasionally contact the person who filed the 报道 via a message, asking for clarification. Then, once they've investigated what the reason was for the report, they will take whatever action they deem necessary. Such action includes chastising users, moving miscategorized content, banning users, merging spots, deleting spots, and deleting other content.

In addition, if the 报道 was a "broken" content report, a message is also generated to the user who 发布 the content originally, with the subject line "One of your 链接 has been flagged 由 another user." In the case of broken content, the user who 发布 the content originally usually has two days to 编辑 the link and replace it with a working link before the broken link is completely removed from the site.

Let me tell 你 how I first discovered fanpop. (Just bored so thought I'd write this)

I was on the net looking for pictures. I then came across a site (Which is this one really) and clicked the link.
I never knew what this site was 或者 what and thought it was one of those many sites like twitter and Facebook.

Browsing some 更多 I accidentally landed on someone's 个人资料 page and scrolling down say there were pic's looking like cubes. On 最佳, 返回页首 there were titled 'Clubs'.

I noticed a familiar 图标 of my favourite actor and clicked on it.

It was cool, it was like a website just full of that actors info.

I noticed they had 测验 and took part.

Than I released that 你 had to sign up to record what 你 got right/wrong etc.

Thats when I decided to log on and realised I was SOOO ADDICTED TO IT!

(Hey I don't even spend so0 much time like this on Facebook!)

So that was how I discovered Fanpop-not to dramatic 或者 interesting, but i found my rabbit hole.

Whats yours?

Some of 你 may not no this but if 你 have a mac 你 can only 上传 five 图片 at one time onto fanpop.

Most of 你 probably don't care because 你 have a PC 或者 don't 上传 图片 that much.

It didn't really get on my nerves before, but now I want to 上传 超能英雄 screencaps to the 超能英雄 spot which I have a die-hard medal in and I know PC users can 上传 much 更多 than five 图片 at a time; especially if they have a die hard medal in the spot they want to 上传 in.

I know 你 can open loads of tabs but then again it is 更多 work and annoying.

It's unfair on people who like to contribute anyway, so I hope there is some change in the image uploader for mac users.

P.S. If 你 joke and say I should have a PC 或者 whatever, then very funny but no.

This 文章 describes two different kinds of feedback to the 潮流粉丝俱乐部 staff that are often confused for one another, and was last edited on 28 October 2008.

Feedback on the web site
Like any commercial software enterprise, web sites provide a product to their customers. In Fanpop's case, the product is a great site for joining together with other 粉丝 of topics that interest 你 in order to share quality content and make friends. But as with any product, feedback is very important to both maintain and improve the product. But feedback for maintaining the site is fundamentally different than feedback...

Okay, first of all I don't write these 文章 but now I'm fed up! Can anyone please enlighten me because I am confused. What is the problem if I 或者 anybody else posts 更多 links/videos/images than another fan? If I happen to be the one with the most links/videos/images 或者 whatever on 潮流粉丝俱乐部 that is because I like helping out the website. It doesn't make any sense for people to feel jealous 或者 attack me 或者 other people for posting 更多 content than them. That is the most absurd reason to get angry. I am posting content mainly to help out the website but I also know that some people on here...

Plugging away at our laptops
It was just about one 年 以前 that link and I were having our regular lunch meetups downtown in the Financial District of San Francisco. Years 以前 we shared a cube in Santa Clara at Yahoo! where we first met. Now we were being reunited just a few blocks away from one another and having lunch like old times. We decided to pay a visit to our 最喜爱的 hole in the wall, the International 食物 Court on the corner of 衬套, 布什 and Kearny Streets. Most people would never have spotted this joint and even if they had they would pick up their pace and keep on walking. Being the adventurous (and cheap) guys...

Ten years ago, 潮流粉丝俱乐部 made its presence on the Internet and people joined the site one way 或者 another. I first found out about 潮流粉丝俱乐部 when I did a 谷歌 Image 搜索 on "link". That was back in May 2010, in which I signed up for the site as CHILDISHY; now I use my ReptarZolo account to match with my current DeviantArt account. All those years, 潮流粉丝俱乐部 became cluttered with various types of violative content, including and especially pornography. With only four admins, I don't believe 潮流粉丝俱乐部 will last any longer; this can be prevented if the admins promote some users, preferably those they trust, to become moderators and help clean up the site.
Ok so I'm sooo sorry If I waited to long to do the story I SWEAR! that i'm going to do it tomorrow i'm so sorry. I have to many problems and i'm very emotional the last couple of days and it's a big problem with my family and i'm very sad but i really will start the story I swear! I cant really tell u about my family issues but I need someone to talk to. But on the other hand if 你 can be my co-writer i would 爱情 that but 你 have to be good like not basic, 你 know how when people push the story too fast...

Example for some of 你 dumbass trifflin 屁股 cunt 屁股 bitches: Yolanda dated this boy named Prince then he bullied her then he liked her afterwards the got married had a baby named Rolanda and Prince got hit 由 a car trying to see an old friend a 交叉, 十字架 the 街, 街道 2 years later Yolanda sold Rolanda n got on crack, died, and lived happily ever after with Prince in heaven.
[note: when I first made this 文章 "clubs" were called "spots" so just imagine anything that says "spot" actually says "club" ;)]

Well it seems like people are always asking how so here is a step 由 step guide on how to with images, yay! (there is a little thing in the 常见问题 but people seem to relate to 图片 better)

Step 1: Make sure 你 are on the 潮流粉丝俱乐部 main page

Step 2: 搜索 for the spot first so there are no duplicates (if not then go back to the main page)

Step 3: Scroll down till 你 see this image and click "create new spot"

Step 4: Type in the name of the spot...

ATTENTION: This is just a user opinion's on what could be cool for Fanpop.

1. Customize Profile: Everyone likes to have a nice 个人资料 homepage, so my first idea is we have a chance of customize our own profile, with backgrounds, colors, fonts etc...

2. Medal Meter: I think every Fanpopers like to know how much are they far to get a medal on the spot, so my 2nd idea is FP give us the chance to see if we are far 或者 close to get our medal.

3. 个人资料 Viewers: How many and what users did check our profile.

4. 评论 Reply Notice: Be notice in 你 更新 when someone reply 你 in a comment.

5. Possibility to Change User name: Sometimes people don't like their user names...a opportunity to change would be nice ;)

Hope 你 Enjoy It

Please don't post nude 或者 indecent pictures in any spot. There are children on this website. Please don't post anything 你 wouldn't want your own kids to look at. If an actress is being made fun in a picture please don't post that in their spot. And 你 should know better than to post naked pictures of them also. There is a place for those 图片 and it's called PerezHilton.com. It's disrecpectful to post inhumane pictures of an actress/actor in their spot. This is 潮流粉丝俱乐部 not hatepop. Another issue that has been irking me is duplicate images. I know I have accidently 发布 duplicates before...

I feel like it is time that I tell 你 how much 你 all mean to me and how 潮流粉丝俱乐部 has changed my life. About a 年 以前 I became a stay-at-home mom. Which was really a blessing, however a huge stressor in my life was the fact that I had essentially no adult interaction during the 日 and no way of really feeling validated. I found 潮流粉丝俱乐部 one 日 while browsing for Office episodes online. I saw the picks and it looked so fun, that I just had to join! Since then I have spent hours everyday on Fanpop. It is my outlet for all the stresses of being a young mother who is nearly solely responsible...

Okay, first off, that 标题 is a lie.

Based on the way things are going with the new club update feature so far, I thought we could use some guidelines. These are not official, they are merely suggestions on how to decide on a new 图标 或者 banner as a team. Only large 俱乐部 have the new suggestion options, so there are thousands of people there whose opinions count! (Not that smaller spots aren't valuable, 你 guys rock just as hard.) The suggested steps for changing a club's look are the same up until Step 3 for both large 俱乐部 with the new 民意调查 feature, and smaller ones with user-run polls...
