She sat in the corner, hiding herself. Her mind reeled with everything she'd been through so far and all she could do was stare at the 墙 in her dark room. This was nothing like she had expected and with every passing moment, her 心 sank deeper and deeper into despair.
He led her down a flight of stairs, towards one of the buildings. She could hear their whispers, see their eyes on her, watching her like she was a menace. She felt chilled and everything inside her screamed to get out. But it was too late; she was led into the largest building and she cried out at what she saw. He turned to her with a wide grin.
“Welcome home.”
Her 心 caught in her throat. Floor to ceiling were rows and rows of cells....no, cages. Inside was every kind of creature imaginable. Each cell was designed to hold it's specific target, and the guards were armed with what could only be some form of tranquilizer. She was almost shaking with fear as they walked. Kids, adults, teens; it was a war camp, and they all stared as she walked by. Some were cruel and cold, laughing at her fear. Others looked at her with fear to match her own. But what scared her most were those that looked at her with sorrow. She continued to follow, something inside her telling her to go deeper. He lead her to a room, a security room 由 the looks of the monitors and control panels. There stood two figures, one male, one female.
“You've brought her back. Good.”
She stared until she felt someone behind her. She started to move, but it was too late. He, the one who had taken her here, had put her hands and upper arms into a set of cuffs, designed to cover the trapped parts.
“W-what are 你 doing?!”
“He's following orders.”
The male spoke to her and she faced him.
“Why am I cuffed?!”
“It's to ensure your safety as well as ours. Alex, good job.”
Her mind reeled.
“Alex....my...brother....”
He gave her a very wide grin.
“Close enough. You'll figure it out.”
And with that, he disappeared. She turned to the two in the room.
“What do 你 want from me? I just want to go home...!”
The female smiled at her.
“Cat is it? That's....cute. Cat, 你 are home. Welcome back. We've been looking for you.”
“Looking for me...? Why?”
“Well, 你 belong to us.”
The man spoke again and she stared at them.
“No....but...no that would mean you're....my parents?”
The two laughed and the female looked at her.
“Close. We have a lot to talk about.”
It took several hours, but 由 the time it was done, she walked to her cell with a great sadness. She wasn't birthed....she was made...created like some kind of machine. Her parents weren't her parents. All this time, her family had been fake. And Alex...he hadn't been her brother...he was her partner. Her partner in what they had called project C.A.T.
She wasn't actually named...she was numbered. Just like all the others. They hadn't 说 much, but it was enough to cast her into a sea of despair. How could this be? How had she never remembered this? She wasn't a person...or a hero. She was a weapon. And they had manipulated her for 8 years before she'd gone rouge. It was no dream. It was all a nightmare.
