She ran her hands over the wrinkles in the bottom half of her dress, it was grey and light brown mix of a 1800s dress. She tugged on the long sleeves before picking up her umbrella. Babylon almost jumped out of her skin when she heard a knock on the door of her room. Ethan's voice came from the other side, "Come to the ball room Babylon." Babylon stiffened and nodded to herself, grabbing part of her dress to keep her from tripping, and opened the door, heading down stairs. Her hand felt hot against the contrasting cold of the stair rails. Elegant eerie 钢琴 音乐 filled her spacious house. She looked around, had anyone, woman, man, 或者 child stepped foot into her 首页 they would have thought they stepped into a fairy tale, a castle. But to her it was nothing but an empty place. High golden ceilings painted to artistic perfection, golden and red tapestry and large narrow windows.

When Babylon finally reached the end of the stair case the flight dimmed a tad, and Ethan stood at the center his hands upon the shoulders of a young man. The young man looked barely a 日 over twenty, He had dark red eyes, shaped like slightly rounder almonds, and pale skin. He wore a suit, his white hair was long and tied back into a 小马 tail, that just happened to look like hers, but shorter. Babylon was at a loss for words. "Ethan.. is.. that.."
She was choking up, she could barely form words as she looked over the boy that stood before her, her eyes pricked with tears, a hand flying up to her mouth, her lips quivering. "Our son." Ethan said, looking at the expression on his wife's face. he'd never seen her like this. It was a different sort of sadness that she'd often expressed. It was joyful burst of tears, yes. That's why it was so new to him, he had never seen Babylon cry tears of joy.

Babylon took a tentative step towards her son a hand extended as she touched his face with her skin colored glove. He did not lean into her touch, but Babylon was far too overwhelmed 由 her emotions to notice. "Nathaniel... 你 look so much like your father." Nathaniel's eyes looked down at her, he was taller than she was, but still shorter than his father. "I always wondered if 你 had red eyes. It was the only explanation to ehy i'd have such an abomination." his voice was old and distant, nothing like the son that should have embraced his own mother. "E-Excuse me?" Babylon stuttered. She had not been preapred for that. Hell, the poor woman hadn't been prepared to see her son in the first place, let alone expect such a remark after only seeing him after his birth and never since.
"My red eyes," stated Nathaniel, "they are an abomination to someone who could eventually take on the position of an angel." Babylon's own eyes widened as she took a step back, her 心 pounded in disbelief, "You.. 你 are not happy to see me?" She should have seen it coming, the rejection that was a total possibility.

Nathaniel scoffed, "Happy? To see you? God no, mother. You're the reason i cant be everything I aspired to be! i cant be a proper watcher because i'm the son a demon hybrid. i'm nothing but a mutt to what should have been my own kind." Babylon's eyes looked him over, her body shook, "You.. 你 are just like your father. This is unbelievable. For years I begged to see you, and this the reception i get. I begged Adrian and Ethan to let me see you, and i thought th-" Nathaniel cut her off, just like she had cut Ethan off earlier that day, "You thought they didn't want 你 to see me, when really, they knew, i didn't want to see you."
"That's why they kept 你 away all these years.."
"Yes mother, because I didn't want to see you!"
"Why?"
"Why What?"
"why would 你 dont want to see me? I waited years for this, and.."

Nathaniel looked down at her before he began to laugh, her laughed in her face and he grabbed her 由 the jaw, "You should know better than anyone mother, what its like to be the spawn on a demon. Worthless and frowned upon. A shame. Father told me 你 probably wouldn't understand, and i can see in your eyes that deep down 你 do mother. So this is farewell, the debt to my uncle in repaid." He left go of her and stepped out of the room.
Babylon watched him go, her eyes pained, her body her expression, pain. Ethan gave her look, one of sympathy, before following out after his son.
