Has Snape always been bad 或者 did he suddenly snap in the Half Blood Prince. Please explain in detail and if possible provide examples, I am greatly perplexed!

Did 你 read the Deathly Hallows? 'Cuz it's all explained there. I have the answer, but if you're currently 阅读 it, I don't want to spoil it for 你 :)

Severus wasn't a bad person. He was raised in 首页 without 爱情 and was constantly talked down to 由 his father when ever he did pay attention to him. His mother was a rather unemotional woman and neglected him on the most part. This didn't make him bad just angry an responded with what he witnessed everyday in his house. When one reads the Deathly Hallows 你 find out that Dumbledor ask Severus to kill him for 2 reasons. first to save Dracos soul because he was the one that was suppose to on orders of Voldemort kill him. Second. Because Albus was dieing anyway 由 putting on the hexed ring horcrux. He would die within the yr and wanted to die with dignity instead slowly wasting away piece 由 piece. He was mortally wounded so one may call it a mercy killing instead of Albus suffering. Severus even tried to save him but couldn't stop the hex. So as for a dieing mans request he forefilled his promise to his long time friend, father figure and mentor. No Prof.Snape was not bad just rather trapped in between 2 Powerful Wizards, Mother and Father and Harry and Voldemort. Always the pawn in the middle at his expense.

no he's not bad at all, he just don't want to get hurt, so that's why he look aloof, cold heart, serious and a bit sarcastic... but deep down, he's such a caring person... 你 need to watch his character closely and then 你 can see the kindness of his heart. For me, (my personal opinion) severus is very loyal friend that 你 rarely can find easily... I adore him and he is my favourite character in Harry Potter, the only character that I like :).

didn't he turn good when he agreed to work at Hogworts?

I agree with 你 all, he's my fav in the HP saga, for these reasons among them. A complex character, neither black 或者 white, but in all complex shades of gray.

He would not have the best of him ever revealed. Everything he did, was out of love. Such devotion in a human being, it's rare, very rare.

He was a little, miss-guided... (I think these days we'd say he "fell in with the wrong crowd").
He 迷失 his only true friend for a stupid mistake, and regretted it for the rest of his life.
I believe he had a good streak in him all along... It's only when he realised V ment to kill Lily that he really settled to the good side.

Which for me poses two 更多 (however obsolete) 问题 -
- Had he been placed in Griffindor instead of Slytherin, would he have become a DE?
Now, I believe he was something of a follower at school. I think he became a DE because he made 老友记 with people who actually WERE bad. Basically, just fell in with whoever would accept him. Had he been in Griff, and stayed 老友记 with Lily, she may have brought out the best in him... Probably still fallen in 爱情 with James instead, but Sev may well have ended up with even the Marauders as friends! (Not close friends, I don't think, but... 老友记 in the way that Dean Thomas is a friend of Harrys, for example).

- So he's stayed in Slyth, and all that has happened with Lily as in the book and so on. Had V attacked Neville and his family instead of the Potters, would Sev ever have gone to DD and begged for help, thus realising his "inner good side", 或者 would he have remained a DE?
I don't believe he would ever have gone to DD... the only reason he did was to try and save Lily, after all... But, I believe SOMEthing would have happened to make him realise the error of his ways.

However, neither of those scenarios happened, so, we'll never know.

And that's enough of my ramblings.
In short... Is Snape bad? No.
