interviewer: it’s a pleasure meeting you. You’re one of our 最喜爱的 actors in the world.
jake gyllenhaal: That’s very nice of you!
interviewer: Tell us about your involvement with the Edible Schoolyard.
jake gyllenhaal: I’ve been involved with them for a couple of years. I’m titled 由 Alice Waters, the ambassador of the school yard. I got involved because the 晚餐 表 was always a place, since I was a young child, where we got to get together, and I actually got to know my family there 更多 than any other place in the world. I grew up growing my own 食物 in our family garden. One of my best 老友记 is a farmer. It’s been a primary focus of my life.
interviewer: We 爱情 food!
jake gyllenhaal: I didn’t realize that I grew up in the slow 食物 movement. I see children who didn’t know any of these things—that they can grow their own 食物 and learn about vegetables when they are at a primary level. It was everything to me, so I wanted to be involved. Since knowing about this organization, I’ve done everything I can.
interviewer: What’s your 最喜爱的 vegetable?
Jake Gyllenhaal:I’d say right now, after an extensive 搜索 over the years and living the wonderful life that I’ve had so far, and after tasting many, many vegetables…cavolo nero. It’s like a really soft kale. 你 can eat it any form: cooked, raw…
interviewer: We trust anything 你 say. Let’s backtrack…How do 你 know a farmer?
Jake Gyllenhaal: I was raised in Los Angeles, but I spent my summers, since I was born, in Martha’s Vineyard. My best friend, since we were little kids, lives there, and he’s a farmer. His whole family farms. I know it might seem odd, but it’s what I 爱情 更多 than anything. Being in gardens have been some of the most wonderful times of my life. Washing 生菜 and watching things grow…you feel connected to the world. You’d be hard-pressed to find anything that connects 你 to the universe in the same way that planting a seed does.
interviewer: That’s so sweet! And now you’ve got a beard like a real farmer.
jake gyllenhaal: Seeds of growth!

Playing the wrapped-in-plastic 标题 role 10 years ago, Gyllenhaal took a neon-nights cruise down the Strip on the back of Danny Trejo’s motorcycle.
This week, the all-grown-up Gyllenhaal returns to the Strip for the gritty cop drama “End of Watch,” from writer-director David Ayer (whose credits range from “Training Day” screenwriter to “Street Kings” director).
“End of Watch” is expected to end principal production Tuesday in L.A. — which makes sense, considering the movie focuses on the partnership, and friendship, between two L.A. police officers. They’re played 由 Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, who’s reportedly not making the trek to Caesars Palace later this week. Watch for “End of Watch” in theaters 下一个 year.
