Nothing can beat the books, but I think films 3 and 7.2 were really good :)

If I was forced to make a choice, I would have to say the books. However, I think that some of the changes made in the films were a slight improvement. For example the whole Dobby, sock, diary thing in CoS. It made more sense to put the sock in the diary, rather than vice versa. Also, I liked it better when Lucius dropped the prophecy in OotP, rather than Neville. And it was more poignant that Snape's tears provided the memories, rather than 'something more than blood' that was neither 'gas nor liquid' gushing from 'his mouth, his ears and his eyes'. In other respects, I believe that vital parts of the story were left out of the films. If one had never read the books, then certain parts of the plot might not make much sense.

I think the books are better because there is more detail, but I did like some of the movies. The actors are great and talented, but there's no beating the books.

Well, the books had a natural advantage. (; As far as movies go, I think the Harry Potter films were as good as they could have been, and they were fantastic. But the books had a lot more depth and clarity, not to mention more Bellatrix and Sirius. (:

One of the reasons why I love this series is the depth and complexity of the plot and characters. I think the movies kind of glossed over that.
