Aladdin doesn't know any resonsibility. Sure he was great with those kids he met on the street but that seemed more like a big brother thing. There's a world of difference to being a brother to two kids you just met and don't see for the rest of the film and being a father to a child. He also didn't have much of parental figures. His mother died when he was a little kid and he didn't meet his dad until the day him and Jasmine got married. We also heard him say he doesn't know anything about families in the third movie.

Jasmine her suituation isn't that different from Aladdin's. She lacks a mother figure to teach her how to be a mother. Sure she had a dad but there are somethings that only a mother can teach a daughter. Plus her dad didn't really help her that much so she doesn't know much about parenting from him.

But I think Shang would be the worest parent out of all the disney princess characters he'd be so over protective the only reason the couple Mulan and Shang aren't here is because Mulan would be an awesome mom.

I agree with pretty_angel92. Just because someone doesn't have a good parental figure doesn't mean they'll be a bad parent. I know people with bad parents and who never knew their parents who are GREAT parents themselves. Parenting isn't a thing that's taught. It's something you learn as soon as you have a child, from yourself.

And you're right, Katara, Mulan would be an awesome mom.

Kataralover, my dad had a terrible parental figure, and my dad is usually an AWESOME dad, although we get into a lot of fights. But that has to do with more our personalities clashing than him being a bad dad.

And I think Shang would be an AWESOME dad.

I'm not saying they'd be bad parents I'm just saying they'd be the least good at being parents because they don't know much about being parents. Hopefully they wouldn't become overprotective because when they first hold the child in their hands and feel they must protect he or she from danger. Though not much danger can happen to them with a genie and a pet tiger.

^^No one knows how to be a parent until they become one. I don't know ANYTHING about being a parent- does that mean I'm going to screw up my child? No.

By your logic, half the princesses would be bad moms because they have no mother figures to show them how.

May we use Ariel as an example she lost her mom when she was five and she wasn't a very good mother but that's probably just because Morgana tried to steal Melody I think if that didn't happen Ariel might have been a better mother

No, Ariel wasn't a bad mother per say. She simply made one bad choice and it came back to haunt her. Honestly, I doubt she really would've been like that as a mother, as much as I love TLM2 they really screwed up Ariel's personality.

There's also Tramp in the sequel he had no excuse not to tell his son about him being a junkyard dog he'd probably then understand how his dad knows so much while Ariel did have an excuse and Tramp isn't that much different from Aladdin so Aladdin could make a stupid mistake like him

Tramp's past was behind him, and he had no need to tell Scamp. He actually had even MORE reason not to tell him, because I don't think he was particularly proud of his past and he never expected Scamp to need to know. If you had a past you weren't proud of, would you go tell your young son? No, you'd wait until they're old enough to understand.

Melody knowing about the mermaid world may have protected her, which sort of puts Ariel in the wrong for making that decision. But Tramp had no reason to think Scamp would ever encounter any junkyard dogs.

Scamp was old enough to understand and by the looks of it his daughters knew since he said "We'll be back with your brother in no time, your old man has as much speed and cunning as any dog half his age" also I have to say no he doesn't anymore "Just stretching a few forgotten muscals that's all" so I kinda think that maybe the girls knew but of course he could have just told them because Scamp ran away from home

Kataralover, IMO you have EXTREMELY high standards for parents. If they make one mistake you act like they're terrible parents. My parents have made some pretty harmful mistakes but they're still great parents.

And again, like I said, if you think someone having a bad parent means that THEY'LL be a bad parent, then their KIDS will be bad parents and it will be an endless line of bad parents.

BTW Cinderella has a terrible mother figure, do you think Cinderella will be a bad parent?

@KataraLover: How does him bragging a little mean that his daughters knew? He was just saying that. And Scamp only seemed to have the mentality of a 12 year old. Saying "HAI 12 YEAR OLD SON I USED TO BE A HOMELESS WOMANIZING BUM" is NOT good parenting. Geez, you're never going to get the point, nevermind. I can imagine Aladdin being a caring and fun father. It's not that Jasmine's not nice or anything... I just can't see her being so hands-on with kids.

I don't think either of these would be bad parents personally, they'd be pretty good.

But Jasmine probably better than Aladdin, albeit a bit more strict. I feel that Aladdin would let his kids get away with lots of things, but wouldn't be a bad parent.

But who's to say they wouldn't mature by the time they became parents? I agree with what firegirl1515 said-- no one really knows how to be a parent until they become one.
