I can relate to her personality and her situation. We are both stubborn, adventurous and curious. My dad is a lot like King Triton, I love collecting things, I want to live a different kind of life then the one my family expects me to have. I would give anything to get far away from where I am now. I can go on for hours. She the princess I relate to most.

I don't relate to her at all. One reason why she's probably my least favorite, among others. I dislike how people excuse her by saying "but she acts like a normal 16 year old!" Um, actually, I never acted like that, my friends didn't. In fact rebellious, spoiled girls are never usually as sweet-tempered as Ariel, they're more like Merida. The only thing we have in common at all is wanting to see more things but it's in a completely different way, and I'm content in my town and realize how good I have it even if some things suck. I would absolutely hate having to leave my family. I do appreciate beautiful things like she does, though.

I think most people just "relate" to her (or so they say) on a surface level. they actually idealize what a great situation she had (bored with your happy life? cause complete chaos by chasing what you want and get a happy ending at no cost!) and the fact that she's their favorite more than they're really similar to her.

I never understood what was wrong with wanting more out of life even if you already have a good life. What wrong with wanting to live a different life then one everyone else around you is having? what's wrong with wanting more then the rights (or in this case, the fins) you are given?

and her situation, I'm basically Ariel.

Nothing, necessarily, except she was really ungrateful. Didn't give a wit about her loving family, how good she had it. she wasn't unhappy at all, just bored. People don't appreciate what they have till it's taken from them. If you want to change yourself for a noble purpose that's good, but she didn't, she was just bored.

we're spoiled, girly, hyper, confident and dont give a darn what you think! lol.

definitely, just the way we talk and act is so alike. how she talks to flounder and her friends, how she is so adventurous, everything

She wants to get away from home. I do too, but for a different reason

@CyberFive: These so called "articles" were probably written by some Ariel-crazy 15 year old girl, who just refuse to believe that Ariel does have bad sides as well. So I wouldn't trust them too much.

BelleAnastasia - But the same site also defended princesses like Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White and Cinderella also.

I'm wrong about not relating to her? Sorry, but you can't tell someone they're wrong about how they feel. And at the risk of sounding presumptuous, I think I understand her better than many of her own fans do.

Also, I read all of those. I liked all of them, and I appreciate what she said about Ariel, but it had nothing to do with anything I said.

@AudreyFreak - Sorry, what I meant to write was that I thought you misunderstood Ariel's situation as someone who didn't care about her family or was bored with her life and the points I showed in those articles seem to disprove that. Just for the record, I actually happen to know someone who was in an almost similar situation to Ariel's, which, for me, I can relate to in a way and if I'm gonna be completely honest, I think maryksand does a better job of understanding Ariel better than any her fans or members of this club do.

Anyways, apologies for the confusion on my behalf and you are entitled to have an opinion, wether it be something we agree with or not.
