Sparklefairy375 I don't get it why they disagree a lot about Emma Watson casted as Belle. We even don't see her performance on the film yet. I agree about Anne Hathaway but she already plays on Princess Diaries, peoples would remind her as Mia more than as Belle.

anukriti2409 ^i agree with Sparklefairy. More, even if i have to choose an alternative, I'd pick Kiera Knightely out of these. She has the bit of sass and the quiet grace both, not that other don't.

lililc I´ll go with Keira or Natalie Portman who is not in the options . What worries me is that Watson would ruin Belle,i hope she doesn't because she is a pretty good actress. But she already ruined Hermione and i don't want the same happen to Belle

wanderingchild7 I always thought Anne Hathaway would be the perfect Belle! I like her as an actress, she is beautiful and also she can sing! Emmy Rossum would be ok... She has a good voice (not good enough for Christine in my opininon but as Belle doesn't sing opera I guess it fits for her), her look would be definitely better for a more faithful adaptation of the original BatB, with more of the period stuff and baroque atmosphere (I really wish they would make a movie like that <3), and the only thing that bothers me about her is her acting because all of the movies (The phantom of the opera, The day after tomorrow etc.) in which I have seen her she was really bland but those movies were a long time ago and I think it was probably more the fault of the directors' than hers so I think I could give her a chance as Belle. Keira Knightley definitely has the looks! She could be a more sassy take on the character which I would enjoy to see! As for Emma Watson... well really no offense for those who like her, but I think she is not really good as an actress. I never liked her take on Hermione. Sometimes I found her rather obnoxious and I don't think that is what Hermione was supposed to be at all! She has rather boyish looks (still pretty, but quite boyish) and while I like if in any of the BatB adaptations the Beauty is portrayed as a beautiful but still average lookig girl (like Belle in the Disney version) who is also the town's titular "beauty", but honestly I couldn't imagine a town where everybody is into Emma Watson while girls like the Bimbettes are also around (I could imagine it with Anne, Keira or Emmy though!). Also while I can't judge her since I haven't seen her performance in this live action adaptation I bet I won't be completely satisfyed with it (although I hope that I am wrong now because I don't want to see an unlikely adaptation of my favourite fairytale/Disney movie/romance story etc.), because based on her previous movies I don't think Emma could capture the whimsical and gentle nature of Belle and I fear that she will overplay the snobbish part. And I haven't mentioned the singing... The last time somebody was casted in a movie musical adaptation of one of my dearest stories in a title role of a character that had one of the biggest influences on my life and I was told "he never sang before but we will teach him!"... well the last time this happened Gerard Butler played the Phantom. (I mean he was an ok Phantom considering his acting, but I didn't like his singing at all.) So for Emma: I have a lot of issues, I hope she will be good or at least not an awful Belle, but I think it could be way better.
