Because It Seems to Bother Us All... AND ME, TOO.

All right, this doesn't count as a real 文章由 me. This counts as a 随意 blurb...addressing the DP stereotype that all of the prior 迪士尼 Princesses save the Revival/ Modern ones... all married their guys the same 日 they met them.

Broken down, as I have watched all thirteen movies... this is what I FOUND out is the ACTUAL CASE.

Snow White meets Ferdinand within the first five 分钟 of the film, and he woos her so to speak. But many, many, many DAYS PASS before he comes upon her in the coffin in the woods, figuratively "dead" from a poison 苹果 bite. At the end of the movie, Snow White isn't even shown in a wedding ceremony, only riding off into the distance with Ferdinand.

CONCLUSION: Snow White does not marry her prince the moment she meets him!!!

灰姑娘 meets Charming because of a ball hosted 由 his father. And Cindy would not even have been at 说 ball, if not for the intervention of a fairy godmother. Needless to say, Cindy does not marry Charming on the night they meet at the ball. Really, several days pass before the proclamation goes out to find the girl who fits the glass slipper, and Mr. Googly-glasses personal mannservant has to make the rounds to all of the houses. Cindy isn't eligible to marry until she is freed 由 the mice and Bruno the dog, and has the glass slipper on her foot.

CONCLUSION: 灰姑娘 does not marry Charming on the first night she meets him!!!

Aurora does not meet Phillip until sixteen years have passed since he was a toddler and she was an infant. They do not recognize each other as being royalty. They meet 由 chance in the woods, and flirting ensues, but Aurora goes back to the 城堡 under her fairy godmothers' prompting, and Phillip is kidnapped and taken to Maleficent's charmingly spooky place to live out his existence. It takes two 或者 three days, from what I could fathom, for Phillip to make his way back across rocky terrain, battling Maleficent with the 精灵 help all of that time. Phillip kisses Aurora to wake her up from her nap ( because of Merryweather's intervention in Maleficent's spell, this works). The young people go downstairs where everyone is waking up... And formal introductions are made at last. And then the young couple is off dancing, at the pre-betrothal party, before the couple weds on the following day. That's sixteen years and four 或者 five days, exactly, 由 my estimation.

CONCLUSION: Aurora does not marry Phillip the moment they meet as children, nor the moment they meet as adults. They don't marry right away!!!

Ariel saves Eric from drowning, and stays a mermaid, even after 唱歌 to wake him up. Ariel remains a mermaid twirling around in her undersea kingdom for three 或者 four days ( enough for her sisters to 评论 on her "weird behavior" and tell their dad about it). Ariel still remains a mermaid right through Sebastian's song/treatise on why humans are all kinds of BAD and dangerous trouble. That's another half-day, because the rest of that 日 Ariel spends mooning around Eric's statue, and daydreaming, before her father shows up and the curtain literally comes down. Then Ariel gets fed BAD 建议 from Flotsam and jetsam who take advantage of Ariel's anger, depression, and her loneliness and heart-brokenness. ONLY after Ariel is coerced 由 Ursula's rather convincing sell on becoming a human, does Ariel decide to become a human. Even after Ariel becomes a human, and she meets Eric again, she is without her voice, and another days is spent on land, where Ariel does not get married. Ariel spends two 更多 days on land with Eric, and on the evening of the third day, she, Eric, and Triton, all find out that Ursula has been pulling their strings all along, and duped ALL THREE of them!!! Ariel is pretty much a mermaid all through the last twenty 分钟 of the movie, and the evening of the third day. She's not marrying anybody. And on the fourth day, Triton finally has a change of 心 and makes her a human. Yes, Ariel and Eric share a 吻乐队（Kiss） on the beach, but it takes hours to mount the wedding ceremony all over again. And because it looks like it is high noon on the wedding 船, 小船 ( because of the location of the sun in the movie picture), it seems like Ariel gets married to Eric the 日 AFTER they 吻乐队（Kiss） on the beach.

CONCLUSION: Ariel does not marry Eric the same 日 she meets him!!!! Not 由 a long shot!!!

I will be back later to finish the rest of my assessment, as we are getting really bad storms coming in, right now. ( I hear thunder outside). Stay tuned, and I will lay out all the rest of my thinking on "how soon" everyone of the DPs got hitched. Clue: It wasn't fast for ANY of them.

sarchasm Yeah, this is a really annoying assumption I hear a lot from more casual Disney fans. Although for me it's more the amount of time spent together that's important, rather than the amount of time between when the couple meets and when they get married. (For instance: Snow, Cinderella and Aurora certainly don't marry their princes the day they meet them, but they have so little interaction that those relationships still annoy me.)

Aang_Lite Whenever I've heard the criticism, it's usually not that the girls marry the first day, but that they immediately fall in love with the person, sometimes without even speaking to them. Like sarchasm said, some of these girls spend so little time with their princes that it's almost insane that they marry them a few days later. Meh, what can you do. It's the characters we watch these movies for, not marriage advice.

MaidofOrleans I agree with sarchasm and Aang-Lite. A lot of my friends have issues with what they have dubbed the "three day romances." But that said, this is a great idea for an article series! When thinking about how much time each princess and prince have spent together before getting married I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that each wedding probably took at least a couple months to plan. Therefore, unless explicitly stated that they get married the next day or that evening or whatever, I assume they've spent quite a bit of time together.

UnholyNoise What Aang_Lite said. It never seemed to me that the criticism was about prior DPs marrying their princes on literally the same day they met them, just that the period between their meeting and falling in love was inordinately short, whether that means a it's a day, or a few days, or a few weeks. Still, a very interesting concept for an article. As always, very though-provoking even if I'm not sure I agree with the premise.

Renegade1765 Nice article. I love how you addressed an unfair criticism to something you love. I always love it when people defend something when the criticism is sometimes uncalled for, or simply doesn't make sense. And I love it when people like you point it out. About the princesses, I agree with you! None of the princesses ever get married on the first day they meet with the prince. I guess it's because when they claim they say they want to get married to a certain man, they blow it out of proportion and take it as if they married right away. When time passes in a movie, it doesn't seem as long as it does in a show or book, so it makes it look like as if they married on the same day they met.

wavesurf @Renegade: Thanks for your comment! Yes, I hate when people say that the three classic princesses and Ariel were only interested in their princes, and married them right away... and that the moderns are BETTER somehow for being largely aromantic. First, that is a gross misrepresentation of events in each movie. Secondly, it just feeds straight in to the "we-hate-marriage" and the "all-men-are-awful-to-women" feminist extremism. So... because I still get very irked by fans of the modern princesses who write off the old ones in exchange for these lies, now ALL of the moderns are at the bottom of my DP list for this, and for other issues that produce eyebrow raising from me, and induce wincing in my brain.
