Most Common Misconceptions About The Classic Princesses [Part 1]

Snow, the kind one. Cindy, the hard worker. Aurora, the elegant one.

I took a 民意调查 and gathered some information to try and find the most common misconceptions about each princess. Let me start 由 saying that although this site is pretty hard on a lot of the princesses, this brings a lot of interesting discussions and topics to the table. Although, I do feel we need to go a little easier on the princesses as a whole. Well anyway, I'll begin. (btw, this is not a ranking, just a listing giving each princesses misconceptions) Also a special thanks to shanyuisboss, Mongoose09, Great_Lance30, rhythmicmagic, and 更多 for giving me suggestions for this article.

Snow White

Snow is one of the ones that doesn't have many misconceptions, (When compared to the rest of the DP) but that doesn't mean she doesn't have any. Often people accuse Snow of just reacting to her situation which I find kind of crazy. What does this even mean? I honestly don't even think the people that accuse her of this have reason. Every princess, and person reacts to situations. Snow does something that most princesses don't do, makes something better of the situation. Unlike the others, she doesn't just mope around, but finds a new home, and makes it a better place. Also, people often accuse Snow of being too childish. One, she is a child. Being the youngest DP, she's still 更多 responsible than the majority of this list. Also, I don't know any child that would have been strong enough to deal with the situation like the way Snow dealt with it. People need to give Snow 更多 credit for being a strong, strong woman. (not child)

Cinderella

灰姑娘 is often know as a doormat that just waits for her prince to come. Both, not true! Cindy, a doormat, really? She actually has a lot 更多 spunk that 给 credit for. She's resentful, and a bit aggressive and I feel this adds to her personality, giving her 更多 layers, and a 更多 realistic approach to the situation. I 爱情 how she's almost sarcastic, but it's an underlying sarcasm. Also, she defiantly does not wait for her prince to come. Unlike the other two classic princesses, she gets up and gets him! She had the drive, the incentive, and if anything the mice are the heroes. Defiantly not some Prince Charming. 灰姑娘 is a strong, capable young woman that made the best out of her situation, and had no where else to go.

Aurora

She, IMO, is 给 the most crap out of all princesses. Honestly, I feel like people ca be so rude to her. Saying she has no personality, is boring, ect. It gets really old. Now I'm not going to go on a rant about Aurora's personality (you can read my 文章 expressing why I feel she has a personality) I'm just gonna say that although her personality is 更多 faint and subdued, I feel it works for Aurora. Aurora wasn't meant to be crazy and overly dramatic, she was meant to be an elegant princess that sleeps, sings, and looks pretty, and she does the job. I, on the other hand, feel she does much more. Her personality is kind, dreamy, and just interesting to me. I see myself in her, a socially awkward, friendly person, that is trapped. I find it so interesting how she is so different from the other princesses. She just radiates this aura that makes me 爱情 her so much, and yes she doesn't have as big a personality as Ariel, 或者 Rapunzel, but to me, she's perfect. (After re-reading this, I know I was on a rant and I barely make any sense, but I can't think of a way to put my feelings into better words)

Animated_Paint Oooh, good article ^^ I'm glad someone is doing this - all that you said about the princesses are true! There are so many misconceptions and labels put on them as characters, but they are amazing and have their own good qualities. Loved reading the article :D

AudreyFreak Yay! I'm quite glad to see more support coming in for the old girls. For a long time they're been the unpopular kids in the lunchroom (though a lot of girls IRL seem to like Cinderella- I think this has everything to do with her beauty and glamor and next to nothing to do with her good personality, though) and it's been "cool" to bully them (not that you can about the popular girls, the Renaissances, though! Each group is well protected). I'm glad they're finally getting the appreciation they deserve. I think people today are for the most part very selfish (not excluding myself) and like getting angry too much. I believe that's why characters like these heroines, who don't let their anger if they have any get the better of them, can be so hated. they're classy and gentle and that ain't cool in this fight-happy culture.

MaidofOrleans I completely agree with you! A lot of people say that Aurora has no personality, but I completely disagree. Despite her short amount of time onscreen, we learn that she is shy, loves animals, enjoys make believe, and has a desire to please everyone. She is also somewhat socially awkward because of being sheltered from the world her entire life, but once you get to know her she is a complete sweetheart. Is this someone who has no personality? I think not!

GreatLance_30 Nice article! I agree on what you said about Cinderella, if you watch A Twist in Time, you will see that she is not a doormat! In the sequels, she is very independent and strong yet kind and gentle! Cinderella is my third favorite so I'll fight for her!

Swanpride What bothers me more about Snow White is that people give her so much flak about believing in a wishing apple after the wishing well worked. About the "she reacts" part...well, that's more or less something all of the classic princess have in common. In every movie there are characters who influence the plot with their decisions, and in the classic DP movies it's strangely not the protagonist. In Snow White, it's the evil queen (think about it, every single decision Snow White makes, she only makes because the evil queen did something which forced her to make this decision), in Cinderella it's the king (without him, there would be no ball and not search for the girl with the shoe) and in Sleeping Beauty it's the three fairies. So I fear, people have a point there.

Jayden-G I do agree about the react part somewhat, and even thigh I do not think Aurora has much of a personality, you all listed the points and explained why. I really liked this article, because when people (outside of Fanpop) judge a character, they never look into the details and only looks for shallow reasons. There are much more to these three (two... at least to me) than people give credit for. The Renaissance and Modern girl are not much different.
