this is only the second or third book in my life that I have made the mistake of watching the movie first because I didn't know there was a book. I have to say I like the movie better. The ending in the book was so...desolate. Other than that, it's a pretty good book though.
Gracie, you really prefer to read the book first, then watch the film adaptation? Could you explain why? I vastly prefer the other way around - to see the film first, then read the book. That way I'm a lot less disappointed.
I had to read it before I see the movie, harold. Otherwise.... well, it's difficult to explain, but I hate knowing what's coming in a book, but I don't really mind knowing what's coming in a movie (since many movies that aren't even based on books are ridiculously predictable).
As with most books I've read recently I saw the movie first than discovered the book on my shelves (I swear they multiply because I don't remember getting it) and while I liked the movie I loved the book because the book flowed wonderfully, it just grabbed you by the hand and said "follow me, I know beautiful things", plus I loved the ending which just fit better somehow and seemed more real, if that makes sense.
oh! Yvaine&Tristran
