Your opinion on the ideals of American Enlightenment, specifically the "Watchmaker" analogy?

Currently in U.S. history, we're going over Enlightenments in the American colonies. I've been 给 packets and lists of the characteristic ideas of Enlightenment thinkers. Not sure if the 列表 is online, but I'll gladly send a link if I find it.
I knew of deism but the Enlightenment itself was new to me. Frankly, I find it interesting. Your thoughts?
