Atheism 问题

Why don't 你 believe in God?

Lack of proof? Science? Don't know enough about it to believe? Any of your reasons, I'm curious...

Atheism 答案

I'm a 14 年 old girl btw, so my reasons are based solely on my interpretation of the world, not 由 courses and classes and religious/atheist texts (though I do 爱情 Richard Dawkin's work!)

I don't believe in the magic man in the sky because he hasn't give us proof that he exists. I've also got such a huge ego that I can't bring myself to "worship," but that's another thing :P

I find that god is a fancy name for the gaps in our knowledge.

"Why is God considered an explanation for anything? It's not - it's a failure to explain, a shrug of the shoulders, an 'I dunno' dressed up in spirituality and ritual. If someone credits something to God, generally what it means is that they haven't a clue, so they're attributing it to an unreachable, unknowable sky-fairy. Ask for an explanation of where that bloke came from. and odds are you'll get a vague, pseudo-philosophical reply about having always existed, 或者 being outside nature. Which, of course, explains nothing." ~J. Coyne, 'God in the details: the biochemical challenge to evolution', Matire 383, 1996, 227-8, published in the Guardian, September 2005. Handily quoted from Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion"

Everything has to have an uncaused cause. I call mine "The Big Bang" while theists call theirs "God". Some people believe that God started the Big Bang, which in my mind is completely illogical. We have a nice sensible beginning to everything, but instead of accepting that, we decided to add in an extra step, a omnipotent sentient being who started everything. 'scuse me if I don't fall to my knees and see the light.

The last thing is that i can believe in science because it has physical proof and religion have only mental proof ( like people says that god talked to them in their dream) human kind is known to have a huge imagination. And before someone die the last part of the body that still is active is the part of the brain where 你 can imagine xD.

Religion is only bringing even 更多 war :(

I don't believe in any gods because there isn't any evidence for any gods.

One of the biggest issues I have with the very idea of a god existing is that in order to believe in a god 你 would have to accept that it is possible for a mind 或者 consciousness to exist without a brain (unless it is an earthly god?).

All observed minds are products of brains, and although that is not the same as proving it is impossible to have minds without brains, it goes against biology, logic, and plain old common sense.

As for the Judeo-Christian god, I have other problems including his character. If the Bible provides an accurate depiction of God's character, then he is a psychotic, bloodthirsty megalomaniac (particularly in the Old Testament).

I don't believe that the Bible is 100% accurate, because it was written 由 humans, but have 你 read all of it?

If the Bible isn't 100% accurate, how do 你 decide what is and is not true? Does God speak to 你 about it, 或者 do 你 trust a pastor, 或者 do 你 decide for yourself?

Personally, there are parts that aren't clear to me and I follow the church teaching, but generally I make a conscious decision based on what I already believe and the knowledge I have on the subject :)

If there was a God..Why is he 或者 she letting all these kids have cancer? Why are they dying? Why are soo many innocents losing what they hold close to them? Children losing parents at a young age, people losing loved ones at such a young age? That's the reason I am Atheist. I just don't see how our world is like this if there was a God..

Oh, wait - good point - but i can answer what the teaching is from a religious point of veiw. It says that God gave us free will to choose as we please, and in the Catholic religion some believe that God isn't able to intercede but rather watches over. They also believe that if 你 call to him he will always answer, but it might not always be in the way 你 hoped. Sometimes he has reasons that humans can't comprehend, because he's something that we can't comprehend. Everything, whether Athiest 或者 Religious, is about faith and having faith. But your answer is one of the things that's debated almost as much as religions themselves.

I honestly haven't seen much, if any evidence that any sort of 邪恶力量 being exists at all, and lots of proof that he doesn't, for instance, evolution. It's backed 由 evidence and reasoning, and creationism isn't.
Also, a lot of things that have to do with 基督教 don't make sense, like Adam and Eve, for example.
Also, as I think someone has already said, if there really is a god, then why are so many people dying, and why is the world so messed up these days? And why aren't 更多 people's "prayers" being answered?

Another thing that I've found a bit confusing is how many religions exist in the world today. It doesn't seem as though all those gods would really exist.

Anyways, the whole thing just doesn't make sense. And either way, i'm not the kind of person who would want to have to rely on 或者 constantly look up to some higher power anyways. I think that I and I alone am responsible for my life, not some guy in the sky that I can't prove the existence of.

Okay, but the majority of Christians don't believe in creationism, they believe that God created the Big Bang and set things into motion. As for Adam and Eve... it's a metphorical story told to teach people a lesson, it's not supposed to be true although fundamentalist Catholics may believe that (there aren't really that many of them). But yeh, i get your point!
mimifaith posted 一年多以前

Wouldn't God creating the Big Bang and setting things into motion still be creationism though? Since God supposedly started/created it all?
KateKicksAss posted 一年多以前

Well, generally speaking, it isn't something the religion has just decided randomly to do, but has deliberated and interpreted over, but for a lot of people the Bible is just a guide and 你 can't just group Catholics all into the same box - it's like any religion, each individual person wil decide what they believe based on the education they've received about the topic. In most religions people choose which parts they do 或者 don't believe, because it's a teaching not a law. There are parts that 你 have to believe if 你 class yourself as a Catholic and parts that are open to personal interpretation - for example - I believe that 耶稣 died on the cross, but don't take the Bible story of Adam and Eve literally (because it's a metaphor) - however there are some Christians who do take the Bible literally and actually believe the story of Adam and Eve (Fundamentalist Catholics). Sometimes it depends on the Christian denomination 你 belong to.

Religious texts contradict observable nature and are suspect. On an intellectual nature about the origin of the universe, there is no particular reason to believe in an intelligent designer. There might be one, but there's no point in believing in something for which no evidence exists. 你 can talk about the world being too complex to have occurred naturally, and 你 can say the world is too complex to be designed 由 any one being. Where did the designer come from? Why is a self-dependent designer 更多 logical than an infinite past 或者 a universe that is itself self-dependent for no apparent reason? All 你 can really do is look at what the science suggests about the early universe and say which idea 你 find 更多 comfortable, but it doesn't make sense to trust in the existence of something just because the idea is nice.

I believe that the idea of religion in general is based on a dark age view of trying to bring reason to things they cant explain... the idea that we carry on today with this stupid idea is foolish like people are in denial, it goes in the face of science

Also believing in a floating 超人 type guy always watching everything is a little creepy, like a super-stalker O.o
