Why does Prince Gumball have ears and Peebles doesn't?

In Bad Little Boy, Prince Gumball is shown to have ears. But, Bonnibel is shown to wear earrings but doesn't have ears (but her little self had ears in All The Little People).

Maybe the original plan was to have all bubblegum people ear-less but they forgot when they made Prince Gumball?
