Lucy Lawless says the magic of 'Salem' is nothing like 'Harry Potter'

The war between the witches and the people of Salem is only just beginning, according to the extended trailer for season 2 of 

. The follow-up to the first season’s explosive finale brings several new faces, including 

star Lucy Lawless as the “soul of violence,” Countess Marburg, and Stuart Townsend’s Samuel Wainwright, a mysterious doctor on the hunt for answers of his own. 

This trailer sets up what the audience can expect as all hell (literal and figurative) has broken out in the colonial town, as Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) and co. attempt to tame what has been unleashed. John Alden (Shane West) and Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) are ready for battle, but are they really prepared for what’s to come? 

“It is up to us what kind of land this shall be,” Sibley says, “A heaven on Earth…or a hell.”
