I remember visiting this website once...
It was called ‘Orphan Black’ Finale Recap: Delphine Alive 或者 Dead — Season 3 | TVLine
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Warning: The following post mortem contains spoilers from Saturday’s season finale of
Although Rudy definitely succumbed to his genetic defect, Delphine’s future was left more ambiguous at the close of Saturday’s Season 3 climax. After discovering that Neolutionists had infiltrated Project Leda and Castor, the scientist was warned by Dr. Nealon that she wouldn’t live to see tomorrow — and she actually might not given the gunshot she suffered.
Meanwhile, Helena reunited with “boyfriend” Jesse, Rachel was held captive by her Neolutionist mother, Alison won the school trustee election, and Delphine and Cosima shared a (unbeknownst to Cosima) last kiss. As for Ms. Original, Sarah whisked Mrs. S’ mom away from danger to Iceland, where she finally got to hold her little monkey, Kira, again.
Below, executive producer Graeme Manson previews Delphine’s fate, Helena’s possible happy ending, Kystal’s Season 4 prospects and more.
TVLINE | This felt like a very different finale for the show. There weren’t huge cliffhangers, aside from what happened to Delphine, which we’ll get to. Was that a conscious decision to give the sisters a respite?
Yeah, I think so. The first three seasons, if you put them all together, they barely took a breath. So we wanted to [do] a bit of a reset, put our sisters as close together as possible at the end of the season. It’s been a journey for them. That scene with the whole clone club [at the dinner table] was an important [one] for us.
TVLINE | Was Alison’s speech about the sisters being brave and letting her do what she needed to do a commentary on fans saying that Alison’s storyline is very separate?
It’s never separate to us. It’s all part of the complete, complex tone of the show. She’s separated by tone more than by heart. Throughout the season, we spoke about [how] it’s a part of Sarah’s newfound responsibility to carve out that time for Alison to be normal. And Cosima, too. It’s like an agreement. It’s like a victory for all of them.
TVLINE | She also tried to give Helena a piece of a normal life. Do you see Jesse’s return as representing that for Helena? Can she actually have that?
Yeah, I think Helena has an innocent heart. That’s her first fumbling towards love – with a partner anyway. She’s certainly found love with her sister first.

TVLINE | Going back to the cliffhanger: Delphine was shot, but was she killed?
TVLINE | Her last words were, “What will happen to her?” I assume she’s referring to Cosima.
She was, of course. Her journey this season stemmed from her promise to Cosima in the last season. To me, that’s a true journey of love and heroism and sacrifice. And it’s one we worked really hard on with Evelyne Brochu. When you look at her performance over the course of the season, it’s very dramatic and satisfying.
TVLINE | What makes the Neolutionists a more dangerous foe than, say, Dyad and Castor?
They’ve been through slaughter just to fight their way through these factions and now they’ve discovered that there’s one real force behind it all. It’s doubling back to the very beginning and the first face we saw of Neolution, which was the sort of pop-culture Dr. Leekie face. That philosophy appears to be far more deep-rooted than we’ve known so far. That’s the journey we’re going to go on next season.
TVLINE | Charlotte used to be in the custody of Marian. Does that mean Marian is a Neolutionist?
TVLINE | So there’s a story as to why Charlotte’s now with the Neolutionists.
TVLINE | What was with that creepy worm Dr. Nealon tried to insert into Delphine?
It’s the expansion of the body-horror motifs that we really like in
. Dr. Nealon said the tech is beyond whatever you believe. We’re opening up a little window into some interesting biotech elements in our next season.
TVLINE | What’s Krystal’s state? Is she still in Dyad?
We sure enjoyed that character. The [scenes introducing] Kystal in Episode 8 were some of my favorite of the year, especially [the ones] with Jordan [Gavaris]. Jordan was awesome. We always wanted to do that story about a clone who’s naive and you’re choosing to leave [her] naive. We’d like to see Krystal next year, and it’ll be that question again, “Do you tell Kystal? Or will Krystal find out?” Because she’s not what she appears. She’s not a bimbo.
fans, stay tuned to TVLine for even more scoop. In the meantime, grade the season ender via the poll below, then elaborate in the comments.
This show never disappoints. How is it that 60 minutes goes by like 10!! And what a fantastic family dinner we were all invited to. Thanks for a fantastic season.
Delphine risked everything for Cosima what a great love story….it’s time for Cosima and the Sestras to step up and save her… She deserves to be a part of the Family!!!! Love this show it just keeps getting better! Was sad when Paul died he was an asset. Loved all the Special guests especially Ksenia Solo. Over all great story I was glued to this season and can’t wait to get it on DVD!
Delphine HAS to survive and I agree she deserves to be part of the Clone Club family. Overall LOVED the finale….it gets an A! Despite that the problem has now gotten MUCH BIGGER!!!
Delphine deserves to be a part of this family……she risked everything for cosima and her sisters…..they need to save her now and delphine and cosima can be together they deserve it…….just the best kind of love….the chemistry between those two are simply amazing……evelyne just keeps amazing me..
So, I assume Mark and Gracie are alive, yet they didn’t even get an invite to the dinner? I’ll be really disappointed if they don’t explore Mark’s brotherly relationship to the other Leda clones next season. If that wasn’t the point of introducing the male clones, what was?
I really hope they expand on Mark’s role next season, as well, especially because I think the rest of the Castor clones introduced this season are dead, right?
@ Joey – No, I don’t think so—unless they’re “floating” around like Krystal was until she was found. That’d probably be the only way they could introduce more later on, if they do (and I think they should).
Great finale!! But sad and still can’t belive Delphine had to die. I was hoping to see cosima and Delphine finally reunited.
The creators confirmed that she is dead. They even said that she was up for it. Watch her in X Company. Evelyn’s Brochu = AMAZING!!!!!
I might have actually let out a small squeal of delight when the garage door opened and I saw Jesse’s tow truck. Did Helena happen to mention Jesse to Allison or Donnie? I can’t remember. Even if not, I was still happy to see them reunited.
Also I kind of really want more Krystal next season, too.
I’m pretty sure I remember that happening. I suppose its a logical enough leap that Siobhan told Allison/Donnie about it. In any event, I’m willing to suspend disbelief over how cute it was.
Really enjoyed the finale and love that Krystal is coming back (LOVE her) but I’m not super pumped about where next season is going. Would like just one season that isn’t about some shady corporation trying to control the Clones. Whether it’s Dyad, Castor or the Neolutionists, it’s all the same.
I have a feeling Scott killed Delphine. And he is not what we think he is.
Lord I hope not. I like Scott, and I’d prefer he still be on the side of Clone Club. But he’s a perfect candidate to be the Neolutionist who shot Delphine.
Nah, I don’t think Shay is too obvious. I like how Ksenia Solo (who I think is one splendid actress, and just awesome in her scenes with Tatiana Maslany) played it in this episode. There was not enough emotion in her face to the very emotional words she spoke to Cosima and, to lesser effect, Delphine. One can’t be sure if it’s because she is too hurt by the accusations, or because she actually is a spy and tries to hide it. Or maybe it’s both, because she is in fact a spy, but truly fell in love with Cosima and is now conflicted. But I think that she very well might be the one who shot Delphine. It would make sense, on several levels. And none of them is because she’s too obvious a suspect.
If she drove straight from Bubbles to the parking lot, though, I don’t think that would have worked out in terms of timing. Because Scott was at the dinner party. Although that would be a super interesting twist.
I hope Ferdinand comes back & Delphine died like Paul.
I loved Krystal and I’d like to see more of her next season. Tat was very entertaining while playing her.
I also liked Helena comforting Rudy in his last moments
I loved that moment as well. And I was glad she didn’t kill Rudy. I was hoping he’d die from the Castor’s sickness and not at Helena’s hand.
I’m desperately hoping Delphine isn’t dead! She’s always been a fun character but she rocketed up to my favorite this season. Superb acting, characterization, and storyline. Her relationship with Cosima is actually the only romantic relationship I care about on the show. Cal and Paul have had nice moments with Sarah but ai was never invested, Donnie and Alison are fun but they were already together when the show started so it loses some of its emotional weight, Helena and Jessie are cute but they also just don’t carry the same emotional weight and investment that Delphine and Cosima did for me. Like Felix said to Cosima in the premiere she’s looking for someone who will be in her heart no matter what. This could be the chance to show that she’ll love Delphine even after she thinks she’s died. Then later in the show, next season or maybe even season 5 (hopefully when there are no more scheduling conflicts) we will see Delphine return.
Agree so much on the Cophine relationship being a special one. It’s also the knot complicated romantic relationship, constantly at odds over motives. However, the actresses have done a fabulous job of portraying the emotional connection between the characters. It’s the truest love story on the show and I’ll be very upset if Delphine is dead.
However, as a dramatic, tragic love story, Delphine going through so much – largely unappreciated – this year, has been excellent drama. Especially when there was virtually no momentum to their romance last year apart from messing about in the lab! Delphine has really proved herself and (possibly) made the ultimate sacrifice for Cosima and the girls. Would that story arc and her sacrifice be diluted if she survives?? NO!! #savedelphine. :)
As glad as I am to be rid of Coady and the Castor military brats, it seems a waste to have killed off Paul then wipe out the men he was trying to save. I certainly hope they cure Mark at some point. At least that will be something.
The show was awesome. Please don’t turn Delphine into any kind of monster. Neolutionists cannot be trusted!
Hope Delphine survives , cosima and Delphine relationship is the only true love story in the show . Delphine deserves to be part of clone club for everything she done for them
Holy macaroni without cheese!!!!!! Is it possible that it was Shay who shot Delphine why would she asked “what will happen to her?”!!!!!!!??????
Was I hallucinating or did Ausiello have a cameo in the polling station scene?
The work made during this season is what makes the show such a big hit – the quality keeps just going up and up. I also love how little things from season 1 keep coming, like Pouchy. Those details give it a certain reality because the world is that small in real life anyway. And new things like Shay, Krystal, and the friendship between Helena and Donnie are just amazing (so is bringing a loving, caring Jesse into Helena’s life, nicely done!) The two things that truly broke my heart (although in very specific different ways) were how Paul died and Delphine being shot. She has a very promising character development, is openly bi (which is amazing for representation!) and knows about Neolution. She is not a liability.
With the season finale resetting everything, I hope we get to see more of Felix’s shenanigans in his life as an artist, more of Denise the cat, and obviously, a more relaxed Delphine who is alive first of all, and does not have DYAD and Topside on her all the time.
Really strong second half of the season – better than S2 IMO. Quailty actors like James Frain and Alison Steadman were great additions in these last few episodes.
Where is Marion Bowles if her daughter is now with Rachel?
Did Ethan Duncan know his wife had been turned? Kendall said he suspected
Will Coady and Ferdinand fit in with the clones against the Neolutionists next year?
Is Shay really innocent of nothing more than lying on a dating app?
Cophine is the most romantic pairing in the show, please don’t let her be dead!!
Last season didn’t Ethan say that Aldous killed Susan? Or was it his way of saying that he converted her to the Neolutionist school of thought?
