Chapter Fourteen

Kassie slowly opened her eyes as the rising sun reflected off of the water, bouncing into her eyes. Her eyes burned from crying the night before. She went to sit up slowly only to find something wrapped around her waist. She looked down slowly, shocked to see a tanned, muscled arm anchored firmly around her. Again. Her eyes followed the path down the arm, scanning over the muscled chest, and finally the rest of the knockout body belonging to none other than, Kyan.
“ Kyan.” Her voice could barely say the name. Why was this happening to her? She was trying to put him behind her, not wake up to find herself cuddling with him on the beach.
His eyelids flew open to reveal those startling baby blues.
“ Kassie.” His husky voice made her feel light headed.
Kassie gritted her teeth, telling herself she would not let herself let her stupid emotions take over. Her body felt on 火, 消防 from where his arm was wrapped around her.
“What are 你 doing here?” Kassie snapped, and opted for getting distance in-between them. Maybe then she could breathe.
Kyan sat up in the sand, looking adorably rumpled.
“ I don’t know.” He frowned, his eyes scanning over her.
“Stop looking at me.” Kassie growled and plunked down in the sand a good five feet away from him.
He was quiet for a minute.
“ Kass?”
Kassie glanced over at him quickly.
“What?”
“ We’ve slept together before.”
Kassie whole face felt like it was on fire.
“ 你 remember?” She muttered.
Kyan paused, and then nodded slowly. “ Kind of. Its really foggy.”
Kassie glared out across the water.
“ We only slept together. Literally. Nothing happened.” Kassie snapped, ignoring how tingles were racing through her body. She could tell he was looking at her without even turning her head.
She waited a moment, but Kyan didn’t say anything. This staring business was getting uncomfortable. Her arms were prickling like they always did when someone was looking at her.
“ I 说 Stop looking at me.”
She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, startled to see he (wasn’t) looking at her. His black head swiveled to look at her.
“I wasn’t.”
Kassie felt a sense of dread well up in her stomach.
“Some one is.” She murmured, trying not to 移动 her lips.
“ What?” Kyan leaned closer.
“ Shh. Someone’s here. Watching us.” Kassie paused, subtly looking around. Was someone really watching them, 或者 was she just being paranoid?
Something made a soft wumph sound in the sand, less than a foot away from her. Little bits of sand sprang up from where it impacted.
“What was that?” Kassie frowned and something hit the sand again, closer this time. Her stomach dropped when she realized what it was.
“ Kyan! They’re shooting at us!”
