"Maisy!" My mom calls my name from down stairs, "Come eat!"

"Be right down," I call down to her as I prepare the video camera for my audition, "I just gotta make my audition tape."

"Well hurry up!" She replies, "You're pasta's getting cold."

"Will do," I close my door and get ready to start taping.

No, I'm not auditioning for a play. No, I'm not auditioning for a movie. I'm auditioning for a TV show, but not just any TV show; Total Drama Island! This is my chance.

Okay, here it goes. I press the "record" button on the camera and sit on my bed.

"Hey y'all!" I grin, then note my accent, "I know what you're thinking; my southern accent doesn't make me Canadian. Well, my dad is 100% Canadian and my mom was born and raised in Tennessee, so I guess I'm 50% Canadian. Umm, hang on a second," I felt nervous. So I did what I usually did to calm my nerves, I placed the camera on the ground and stood on my hands," Whew that's better. Sorry, this helps me calm my nerves. I am a 体操运动员 afterall. Anyways, I'm Maisy Newmen, and I'd 爱情 to be on "Total Drama Island", and I think I could possibly win because I may seem like a sweet girl, I'm easily tough competition. I'm training for the Olympic trials for gymnastics, which means I'm quick, flexible, and surpisingly graceful. Though I do fall a lot *giggles*. Well, that's all I've got. I hope I'm chosen because honestly, there isn't much to do in this part of Canada. Except kick mailboxes, which kinda gets old after a while... well BYE Y'ALL!" I stand back on my feet and walk over to the camera and stop recording.

I connect the camera to my laptop and send the video to the TDI site. I sure hope I get in.

I walk downstairs into the dining room to find my mom, dad, my older brother Dallas, and my younger sister Emma all waiting for me.

"It's about time 你 came down," Dallas rolls his eyes. I envied him and Emma sometimes; neither of them had an accent. Though certain words, Emma sounds a tad Canadian, but I'm the only Newman child to have an accent, which takes after my mom.

"I was filming my audition tape. 你 know that," I sit down between Emma and my mom.

"Just remember, honey," My mom looks at me, "If 你 don't get in, don't be so disappointed."

"Yeah I know," I sigh, "They're only letting 16 in this season. But I do feel like I have a chance."

"So when do they send out the emails?" Emma looks at me.

"Tomorrow morning. I figure I'd find out after gymnastics practice."

"I'm wouldn't be surprised if thought 你 weren't Canadian," Dallas jokes.

He's right, what if they don't pick me because they think I'm lying about being Canadian. The only way to find out is to get that email.

"Newmen!" Coach Ross calls for me as I finish stretching.

"Yeah, Coach Ross?" I ask, getting up to walk over to him, avoiding the younger girls working on tumbling passes.

"I have an open house this morning. I want 你 to do your floor routine."

"Sure," I smile, "When?"

"Now. EVERYBODY OFF THE FLOOR," He yells as I sigh and take my place.

Since I'm one of only two girls competing for trials from our gym, Coach Ross likes to, well, 显示 us off. A LOT.

I start of lying on the floor and he turns on my floor music, a salsa-sounding tune. I manage to stick all of my landings and stick my movements as I finish the routine, again on the ground. I hear the 音乐 end and clapping start as I get up and walk off the floor.

"Nice job, Maisy," My best friend, and other trial competitor, Ginger, smiles as I greet her at the water jug.

"Thanks," I smile, filling up a cup with water, "I saw your bar routine while I was stretching; it's incredible."

She grins as I take a gulp of water, "Coach does call me the 皇后乐队 of Bars."

I laugh as I throw my cup away, "I find out today."

"The audition, right?"

I nod, "I sure hope I get in. I wish 你 auditioned too, though. I'll miss my best friend if I'm picked."

"I'll miss 你 too, Maze," Ginger smiles, "You'll have a blast."

I shrug, "Can 你 spot my double twist on the beam?"

"Sure," She nods as we walk over to the beam.

I wasn't the only one to audition from my school, about 200 of us did. I'm reminded of this because my phone is blowing up right now, in the car, with phone notifications. Each of them saying they didn't get in. I quickly go onto my 电子邮箱 on my phone and see the message. Here it goes.

I take a deep breath, and open the email.

"Maisy,

Congradulations! You're spunky Tennessee/Canadian style is just what we need for a great season for TDI. Meet at the boating docks to get onto the island Sunday at 9 AM.... SHARP. Don't be late.
