I was actually sort of torn on this. I tuned out before they killed the Cancer Man and the Lone Gunmen and before Scully had Mulder's baby.
All of that seems really bad to me. So a reboot would be a good way to jettison all that baggage.
Recasting Mulder and Scully would be hard. I think a good Mulder would be James Franco. I don't know about Scully. I might get a lot of flack for saying this, but the girl from Twilight (Kristen Stewart) might be okay.

I hope you aren't seriously suggesting new actors playing Mulder and Scully... that would be a criminal offense in my book.

I don't know... As much as I love James Franco it's hard recasting Mulder and Scully...
It's true that the last seasons weren't that good and the new formula didn't help...but they will always be part of something Epic

though I was thinking of picking the XF2 option, but I do not agree with the opinion that the show peaked in season 5. I love XF up until almost the very end of season 7. I hate the finale of that season and this is where the show should have ended, though with a completely different finale than Requiem which I hate more and more each time I think about it. But you are right, XF2 sucked and the only reason I watch it sometimes is to ogle David ;) A good movie with a great story line would be fantastic. FTF was IT, why was it so hard to try and come up with another great thing is something I will never understand.

I know it may seem blasphemous to recast Mulder and Scully, but David and Gillian have to play the characters according to the mythology. And that includes the stuff that happened in the years after people tuned out. They aren't in the FBI, they have this history together, and seeing where they were in IWTB made me feel like they had drifted off the map somewhere. Mulder basically left his room to consult on the case, then went back to that room at the end. I'm sorry but Mulder and Scully playing house and not being in the FBI is just sort of lame to me. It's more a comment on how off track the X-files has gotten than on the actors. I think David and Gillian are great. But whaddayagonnado?

Anyway. I changed my pick to the "Yes and No" option. Because maybe that's the only way to get X-files back on track. We need characters who are where Mulder and Scully were at the beginning of the series. Let Mulder and Scully appear in the next X-files but X-files needs to get back to basics. If you get appealing stars, the new characters could bring in new fans too.

I loved MSR before but I really, really do not need to see their 'happily ever after'. Just as I really didn't give a damn about the baby thing. It's fine in real life, in a TV show it's just boring and XF suddenly became a very bad soap opera that made me want to throttle someone (yes, I'm looking at you CC)
