狮子王 Article: 5 reasons why 迪士尼 won't make Kopa canon

Let's start with the fact how Kopa was never and is not canon nor a movie character at all: link.

But some people think that the 更多 believers Kopa has the 更多 real he'll become. As in that if many enough believe in him as canon regardless of 迪士尼 saying he's not, 迪士尼 would make him into what those believers want him to be.

Well, Kopa believers: If I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath. And here's why.

The 图书 and Kopa are outsider written and look what happened: 迪士尼 approved him for profit and childrens' entertainment in 图书 known only in USA and did not even refer to him in the movie. Whereas their own creation (Fluffy/Kiara) they threw into the main stream known world wide. They chose their own creation over fanon creation when they saw The Lion King became a huge success.

A company the size and popularity of 迪士尼 doesn't have to remark its 粉丝 likings. It does whatever it wants and just hopes many enough people like their decision. And hence the size and popularity there are always billions who do like it. Which results in 迪士尼 getting everything they wanted: entertainment delievered and profit received. Hence, they don't have to care about what 粉丝 think of a third-party character.

That's for general.
As for Kopa's chances individually...

The only thing playing for him is that 迪士尼 has his copyrights and thus could make a movie with him. But that chance-giver dies in the light of:

1.) They already made it official that the cub is Kiara. As in they made it impossible to become anyone else anymore in 电影院 unless they wish to totally contradict themselves. (They do already 由 Kiara's redesign but it's just an appearence, not an entire character contradiction.)

2.) 迪士尼 prefers using and developing stuff they've created themselves 或者 stuff based on epic tales. Kopa is neither. Indeed Kopa is NOT Disney's creation. (link)

3.) If 迪士尼 thought Kopa is worth 更多 than just to be in the books, they would've released the 图书 everywhere and not just in US and they would've reprinted them. They would've refered to the cub as Kopa instead of Fluffy. But they didn't.

4.) They would've done something with him 由 now. It's been 17 years!

5.) The only way 迪士尼 could make Kopa literally CANON would be to release another commentary track 由 the same people who spoke on the 1995/2003 commentary and have them say the cub is Kopa. But since they didn't cofirm Fluffy even as Kiara (as in a pure 迪士尼 character) there is no way in hell they would 确认 Fluffy as a happened-to-become-official fan-made OC!

Results in: In my reviewing opinion, 迪士尼 has the power to use Kopa in any way they want, but he most likely will never be made a movie-character, and most certainly never be made a canon character.

Fanfiction is fun and Kopa is an excellent character for it. Enjoy him but for goodness' sake let go of him a little. There's no sense in believing against facts because if 你 do you're in a fight 你 can not win. It shouldn't be the end of the world if to 迪士尼 Kopa's not the greatest thing since sliced bread! You'll still have him for unlimited fanfiction.

You're gonna say people should fight for what they believe in. I agree. But I also happen to think it would do good to be able of realizing when the fight's useless and go find a new fight in which 你 actually stand a chance. You're gonna say everyone should chase their dreams and no one has the right to stomp anyone's dreams to the ground. I agree. So I'm not trying to strike down anyone's right to dream of whatever he/she wants nor tell them to throw the dream to the trash can. I'm just trying to remind them not to get their hopes up too high in this particular case. It's important to dream, but even 更多 important to not completely lose the touch with reality. Because dreams are our 来源 of strength but reality is still where we have to live in and eventually deal with. That is if we want to really live.

Mighty big ending speach for a matter of a fictional character, 你 might say? Well, if 你 take a good look around the Kopa believers are utterly believers; some of them take their belief to a religious level and come off as if Kopa was a god who saved them from falling to their death. So I'd say the above paragraph is worth a serious considering and just big enough speach for the topic.

Thepolka1 I still say that as much as the cub may not look exactly like Simba had at his presentation ceremony, it definitely looks nothing like Kiara. Other than the fact that they have a similar color pattern, they are different. Kiara has a predetermined eye color, Cub X does not. Kiara swings her paw out like she's ready to take the world by storm, whereas Cub X just blinks, looking around almost confusedly. Kiara is orange, marmalade and peach in her fur tones, whereas Cub X is more like Simba, a sandy-goldenrod color and creme in the muzzle, toes and belly. Cub X had black rims on it's ears, while Kiara had no rims at all. And their presentations happen at two different times of day. When they present Cub X, it's already well into the day, whereas Kiara's presentation is first thing in the morning. The presentations themselves are entirely different as well. The first cub never got the pink fruit juice spread on it's head, while Kiara did. In Cub X's presentation, Rafiki walked right up between Simba and Nala holding it, whereas Nala passed Kiara over to Rafiki for her presentation. I'm not going to try and say that the cub is Kopa, because I don't know that, I still refuse to accept Kiara as Cub X though.

I'm not a Kopa fan or anything, in fact I didn't even learn of his existence until about a year and a half ago, but I don't really like Kiara either. I don't buy the fact that Zira killed Kopa sometime in between movie 1 and 2. If that were true, why would she still be seeking revenge? She would have gotten her revenge on Simba already. Sure she'd want to take back the Pride Lands, but she wouldn't still be seeking vengeance.

We don't see Cub X's ceremony to that extent. Thus Kiara's presentation actually follows the fact that Cub X doesnt' have the fruit juice at the point and had Kiara get it only after it.

If Kiara is meant to be that same cub, why do Simba and Nala need to look older? They should still be the same age. I believe it's because the animators were trying to make them look more like parents, so they aged them both a bit. But it was completely uncalled for. If Kiara is Cub X, Simba and Nala should still be exactly how old they were at the end of movie 1. My response to your last post was not born of ignorance, I said what I said well knowing what you meant. I understand what you mean by "when the two films are combined." I'm saying the ties between film one and film two are loose at best.

Because Disney itself has stated that it is Kiara. All we can validly say is that the cub was not [i]originally[/i] intented to be Kiara but just a genderless Fluffy, and that to the canon film's makers it still is just Fluffy.

simba3 Thank you for your note. But I have always wanted kopa to be an official lion king character. He wouldn't have to be in lion king 2, but in a lion king 21/2 . What I wrote is meant to be two in a half. It would be like what was happyining during lion king 2. I am a little mad kopa isn't real, but at least he survives in the book.

JeanaFan I was ashamed that Kopa is really not cannon! I know there were books of 'The Lion King' which ends with titling the cub as a 'he', not a 'she' like Kiara. On YouTube, someone made a video, titled 'Kopa appears in the 1st movie (My opinion)'. And people should know that the cub at the end of the 1st Lion King is Kopa, carried by Rafiki, and Kiara is actually born in the beginning of 'The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride' and was handed to Rafiki from Nala. And on deviantart.com, there were fan art of Kopa, together with Kiara or Vitani. There were also pictures of him with Kiara and Kion, from Disney's Junior's 'The Lion Guard'.

Why I wish The Lion King 1½: Hakuna Matata didn't exist

First off; Yes, I do realize It was clearly meant as a parody of the first film and not as an actual serious midquel. At the most it was to give a backstory for Timon and Pumbaa's friendship. And yes, I know that some jungle scenes between Timon, Pumbaa and Simba were written 由 the first film's creators but since we don't know which ones, I wouldn't regard them at all as canon.
And I'm 99% certain that they weren't any of those parenting scenes because they completely and utterly contradict their 格言 "Hakuna Matata" and from the first film it appears their relationship were bachelor friends,...
