Chapter 1
Typical Day
I was in the Gym.
Like I was everyday since my mothers passing. I was training harder then ever, my face shining with sweat, my silvery blonde hair in a matted bun on the back of my head. My brown-gold eyes looked tired, my best friend Carol, 说 before she left for the night.
That was five hours ago.
It was now almost 11:00 at night, and I was trying to perfect my bar.
I put 更多 chalk on my hand, and was getting ready to go back up when a bang echoed off the walls.
I turned towards the door to see a figure in the door.
The figure was busty, it's hair grossly curled. It's handbag swung this way and that.
"HALEY LEWIS!" The figure shouted at me.
I flinched. "Yes Aunt Lucille?" I asked as politely as I could. I dispiese her greatly.
Ever since my mom died and my dad left... Well... Let's just say, I've had a bad life.
"Why weren't 你 首页 at ten?! 你 know your curfew!" She yelled, storming towards me. I backed up and grabbed my yoga pants, pulling them on quickly.
"Sorry Aunt Lucille... I 迷失 track of time." I swallowed slightly and pulled my gym bag over my shoulder. She kept coming until she had my wrist in her vise like grip.
"No computer. No Skype. I would take your cellphone but 你 need to for me to call you. Go." She shoved me towards my car.
I took a deep breath and got in, starting it up.
"AND DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!" She yelled at me as she sped off.
I closed my eyes for a 秒 and then drove towards the exit.

I parked outside school the 下一个 morning.
I shrugged on my 夹克 and then stepped out of the car, my black 匡威 splashing in the wet ground. I sighed as my 匡威 and then bottom of my jeans got wet.
I zipped up my 夹克 and turned to grab my bag, then I locked my beat up Saturn and trudged into the school of evil.
Greater Saint Louis School of the Arts, 或者 GSLSA, was a torture. How I got in, I have no clue. I can't sing, can't act, can't draw. I guess I got in for Gymnastics and partly Karate.
As I walked up the steps, a girl with a massive wave of brown curls bounced 下一个 to me.
"Hey, Haley!" The girl grinned. I laughed slightly.
"Hey Carol," I replied. Carol was my best friend. We'd known each other since kindergarten and become 老友记 in First grade. Carol had an amazing 唱歌 voice and could play Piano, Guitar, Flute, Harp, Drums, Trumpet, Trumbone... Well... 你 get the picture. She was seriously talented.
"What class do 你 have today?" She asked me, pulling out her Tuesday list.
"Um..." I pulled out my own 列表 and glanced at it briefly. "I have the normal... Except I have Latin class and Fencing." I glanced at her. "What 'bout you?" I asked, pulling open the door to the school. We walked down the hall way.
"Normal except Spanish and Music." She replied. Then we passed 由 my locker. "See 你 Haley!" She called, racing down the hallway to her locker.
I laughed slightly at her energeticness and then put in the combo for my locker. I opened the locker door with a creak and pulled out the 图书 for my first to third lessons.
I shut the door and I saw Caleb Mason standing there with a cocky grin. I raised an eyebrow. "What?" I asked him, as he stared at me.
He reached out and flicked my braid over my shoulder and smiled at me. "You. Me. Dance. Friday. Seven o clock. Get your groove on with me." He 说 it like it was a blessing.
I laughed. "You. Me. Karate. Third period. Ten o' clock. Your getting a bloody nose." I turned on my heel and walked down the hall towards my first class.

Today was actually successful. I gave Caleb Mason a bloody nose and a nasty bruise, I only got mocked twice, I didn't fall off the beam 或者 bars in Gymnastics, I got an A in Latin, and I didn't spill my lunch on anyone.
Mhm. Best 日 ever.
I 说 goodbye to Carol and then walked towards my car. I pressed the unlock button when I was close enough and opened the door, throwing my bag in.
"Hey Lewis!" Someone called. I sighed and turned to see Brock Mason, Caleb's older brother, standing above me.
I raised an eyebrow,, trying to 显示 I wasn't scared, but I felt my stomach clench like it always did when something bad was about to happen.
"Call me Haley." I said, tilting my head to the side. "What do 你 want Brock?"
"I want 你 to apologize for giving Caleb that bruise." He snarled.
I laughed humorlessly. "If anyone should be apologizing, it's him. He was being a pig." I paused and smirked at him. "Guess it runs in the family."
Brock's face turned beet red and I swear I saw steam come out of his ears. I stepped back slightly, suddenly scared.
Get in the car, Haley. A voice 说 in my mind, and it wasn't my voice. It sounded old, and wise, and male. I stepped back again reaching for the handle. NOW! The voice yelled in my mind, sending my brain into a massive headache.
I involentarily gasped in pain at the sudden shock and spun around and got into the car in a flash.
Brock came and I turned the car on in one fluid motion and sped out of the parking lot.
When I was far enough away from the school and out of earshot of Brock's yelling, I pulled over and grabbed at my chest over my heart.
What was that..? I thought, swallowing and trying to get a normal 心 rate. God of God... I thought. What is wrong with me?
Nothing Haley... Nothing at all 说 the voice. I froze. Your different. And that's okay. Tell your Aunt that your going to a Gymnastics camp. Tell her it's in New York. And hurry. It's only a matter of time before they find you... Then the voice faded.
"Before who finds me?!" I shouted at myself.
There was a roar and I turned around slowly to see a half man, half bull.
"Oh... That who." I 说 small.
Then the Minotaur charged.
