Actor JOHN R. COLLEY helps bring big laughs to the Nick@Nite freshman comedy, “See Dad Run,” appearing in an all-new episode on March 10th.
John has been gaining momentum in Hollywood recently with appearances on the CBS mega-hit crime-drama, “Criminal Minds,” alongside Taylor 迅速, 斯威夫特 in the 音乐 video for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and in the comedy web series “Yogafiles.”
And, this Texarkana, Texas native isn’t just a cute face either. John graduated Valedictorian from Texas High School where he also flexed his 表演 muscles winning ‘Best Actor in a One Act Play’ in the state-wide competition 大学 Interscholastic League (UIL). Making his way to the Big Apple, he earned a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and appeared on-stage in Tony Kushner’s “Angels in America,” among other notable productions.
We recently had a chance to ask John about his 最近的 电视 role on “See Dad Run” and more.
HOLLY: Tell us about your role in the upcoming episode of “See Dad Run.”
JOHN: I play a wacky tour guide, a la Kenneth from “30 Rock,” giving a behind-the-scenes tour of Amy Hobbs’ (Alanna Ubach’s) soap opera ‘All the Days.’ We’re cruising through craft service when a 粉丝 in my tour mistakes Amy for someone else and bursts her celebrity bubble.
HOLLY: What was your 最喜爱的 moment working on the show? Any fun stories?
JOHN: It was such a pleasure working with everyone. The regulars were very inviting and supportive; they made me feel like part of the family, which is great, I guess, because it’s a family show! “See Dad Run” is actually shot on the former “Happy Days” soundstage at Paramount Studios. It was really cool to work in that environment; such history in the space. And, Alanna was great fun on set. Every take was new and inventive. Even though sit-coms can be a rather structured form (you can’t improvise much because you’ll disrupt the musicality of the jokes), Alanna was able to find the playfulness within that. I learned a lot from watching her.
HOLLY: 你 also recently appeared on CBS’s “Criminal Minds”…how was it working on that show?
JOHN: “Criminal Minds” was a dream! Glenn Kershaw was amazing. He’s one of the show’s producers, but he also directs a few of the episodes each season and I was lucky enough to work with him in that capacity. It was writer Jason Bernero’s first episode. Afterwards, we spoke about his experience, and he 说 it was so exciting, witnessing his words brought to life. It was an honor to be a part of that.
HOLLY: As an actor, you’ve worked on comedy and drama…so in real life do 你 gravitate 更多 towards the funny 或者 are 你 a drama king?
JOHN: 你 know, it’s funny because I 爱情 working on both. I enjoy stretching myself in both directions. And ironically, I find that the 更多 I work on my comedy, it frees my drama. And vice versa, as I strengthen my drama, my comedy deepens as well. Both sides keep me well-rounded as an actor.
HOLLY: Anything else you’d like to share with our readers? And, how can 粉丝 keep up with you?
JOHN: If 你 catch the episode on Nickelodeon, I hope 你 enjoy it! And 你 can stay in touch with me and what I’m up to on Twitter @John_R_Colley, my 脸谱 page, 或者 my website www.johnrcolley.com
Thanks so much!
