Chapter 3
吉他 Boy Likes Me
I woke up hazy. I was pretty sure I had a concussion, but I couldn’t do anything about it. “What if 你 killed her?” My mom yelled. “I’m…alive.” I choked out. “Get up!” My dad yelled. I stood up, finding my head doesn’t hurt anymore. “Who was that boy? Tell me!” I did tell him, but I also told him I didn’t give him our number. He seemed satisfied with that answer. “Get ready for school.”
“Hey, Sunshine.” Duncan said. I was shocked that he still talked to me. “What happened last night?” He asked. “Never call my house again!” I snapped. “Ok chill. I won’t.” He said. He looked a little offended, but I let it slide. “So what class do 你 have next?” I asked him. “Art. You?” “Same.” I said. We started to walk together to class when Trent came up to me. “Hey, Gwen. Doing anything Friday?” At this, Duncan grabbed my hand defensively. I didn’t even protest. Anyway I said, “Well, no. What did 你 have in mind?” He smiled at me and said, “That depends, 电影院 或者 party at Geoff’s?” I was blushing and probably grinning like an idiot but I said, “I guess I’ll see 你 at Geoff’s. I was going to stay 首页 but…” I trailed off. Trent just nodded and walked away. “I don’t trust him.” Duncan said. “But he’s your friend.” I 说 back. “No he is Geoff’s friend. Yesterday Geoff told me Trent liked you. But I still don’t trust him.” I was deep in thought when I realized Duncan was still holding my hand. “Umm, Duncan? Can I have my hand back?” He let my hand drop. But I still felt awkward about the whole 日期 thing.
“Dad? Can I go out tonight?” I asked. “Yes. Be 首页 由 three A.M.” He 说 back. I went and picked out my outfit; an Owl City T-shirt, my pale blue jeans, black ankle boots, and an extra extension that I wear to special events. It was black and curly. I put it so the extension attachment can’t be seen. I walked out the door and to Dunkin Doughnuts. Ok so the Dunkin Doughnuts thing is a joke between Duncan and I. Don’t ask. (A/N My grandpa takes me there for breakfast!) Anyway, Trent is my date, but I don’t want him to know that I live this close to the “Bad Side of Town". So Duncan is taking me. “Hey, Juvie.” I said. He responded with his usual “sunshine”. I don’t get it. “I am not sunny! I am the opposite!” He grinned and said, “Exactly. Ergo, 你 are sunshine.” He turned the key, finally, and we started to move. “Don’t get to say “ergo” a lot.” He 说 randomly. After about ten 分钟 of 表演 like idiots (In a fun way!) we pulled up to Geoff’s house. “Duncan! Dude, wasup?” I shook my head and went to find Trent. “Hey Gwen! 你 look nice.” Trent said. “Thanks.” I replied, blushing. Man, I have to stop doing that! “So…” I spent most of the time talking and dancing with Trent. I suck at dancing though. Around midnight, everyone was clearing out. “Bi, Trent.” I 说 as I hopped into Duncan’s car. After ten 分钟 of sitting there, I walked back inside to see Duncan and Geoff having a fight. “I don’t care! He is such a joke!” Duncan yelled.
“Well the person 你 think is a ‘joke’ happens to be my best friend!”
“What about me?”
“Well 你 WERE my best friend. Now I’m not so sure!”
“GUYS!” I yelled. “Ok first off, stop yelling! Second, Duncan either drive 或者 give me the keys!” They both looked confused, most likely because 1) I yelled and 2) I was supposed to leave 30 分钟 ago. “Did 你 forget 你 are my ride?” I asked Duncan. He grabbed m wrist and basically dragged me to his car. “Doughnut?” I asked him. “Why not?” He replied. We pulled into DD (Dunkin Doughnuts) And he got a coffee, and a 浓情巧克力 doughnut. I got 果冻 filled. “*cough* vampire *cough*” Duncan said. I punched him in the arm and said, “Third grade called; you’re due back in class” (A/N Familiar?) He just laughed. It was two A.M. when I got home. “Goodnight World” I 说 as I crawled in bed.
