I talked to my parents a few years ago when I heard of selective mutism which I had at the age of 4- 5 years. That was the time when I was almost sure that I had a pathologic condition that could explain my extreme shyness. I talked about it with my parents a few times and they said that I could go to counselor if I wanted which I did.My parents admitted the mistakes they did and my mum especially has apologized hundreds of times to me about not giving me special help for my condition. Even though they were always loving and supportive all those years I was completely alone with SAD. I had blamed them when I found out about SAD but I couldn't be angry for long since they honestly regreted their mistakes.Until I was diagnosed they had never heard of social phobia before and unfortunately in my country there's no awareness about it.

Horrible! My Father reacts angrily. He said, you should be only shy when you make a mistake! But, he really don't understands what does social anxiety means and feels like. But thankfully, my Mother does understands me and she talks to my father about my S.A.D. And also my Advisory Teacher who is studying Psychology when he is college. My teacher said I need to overcome my S.A.D. Because it can also cause heart problems due to depression. And my Mother tell my Father that the expert's advice is more suitable than to live with my S.A.D. Forever.
