26: Dark Horse

Jack and Rosalie were sitting outside, away from the cave, away from everything else. The moon was high and bright, full. The forest was silent. “So quiet” Rosalie said.
“Still of the night” Jack answered, leaning her closer on his body. She turned her gaze to the sky. Jack followed it, seeing the sky littered with thousands, millions of stars, and the moon like a giant eye that watched all down on earth.
“What really happened with David and John?” she asked Jack. His reaction was about what she had expected: his body turned stiff, his eyes found something above...

The following days were simply a mess. Carlisle and I were busy with keeping Emmett pleased and healthy. Thanks to Nessie we were aware of what Emmett needed as a human. Bella did the cooking stuff because she was the one who could cook the best; she always cooked for her dad and herself when she was still human, and Carlisle gave us orders so we could know what Emmett needed and what he didn't need. I tried to be always around Emmett, even if his scent was like Heaven to me, I was his wife. I was glad that Emmett was a little bit better now; he was recovering from his unexpected transformation....

'This is it,' I whispered. Me and Emmett were walking hand in hand in the woods from Tennessee. The place where I found Emmett decades ago. We both looked at the place where Emmett was being attacked. I knew this must be hard for him, but he wanted to go back to Tennessee, because it was his vampire birthday and he wanted to go back to the place where it all started. Exactly eighty years 以前 Emmett was turned into a vampire, he was twenty then. So Emmett was now exactly a century old. It made it kind of special.

Emmett let go of my hand and walked to a tree. 'Here was it,' Emmett whispered softly....

'Babe, I'm going to hunt!' I called from downstairs. Rosalie was asusual playing 芭比娃娃 Bella with Alice. Carlisle, Esme, Edward and Jasper were already gone, I would follow them.

'Okay!' I heared her answering me. I heared her giggle from upstairs.

'Okay, I'm going now,' I tried to have attention. She didn't even gave me a "goodbye-kiss" like she always does.

'Okay, Em. Bye!' I heared her again. 'No, that 《金装律师》 her better,' I heared her say to someone.
