Months had passed, and Erin was getting ready to start high school. She was a bit nervous, considering she was among the youngest in her grade. Her brother, Daniel, said, "You don't have to be scared. I'll be there." She said, "Thanks, Daniel. My 老友记 will be there, too. It's good that I'll be seeing familiar faces." He said, "There 你 go. 你 won't be alone." Her first 日 wasn't so great. In her first class, one of her classmates put a kick me sign on her back. Luckily, when she left, her friend, Paul, noticed it and took it off. She asked, "What's going on, Paul?" He said, "This." He showed her the kick me sign. She said, "Thanks, Paul." He said, "You're welcome, Erin." Later, some of the 流行的 girls kept calling her ugly. She tried to ignore them, but she was deeply sensitive. She pretended she needed to use the restroom so that she could be alone to cry. A few moments later, she heard her friend Allie say, "Erin, you've been in here a long time. Are 你 okay?" Erin said, "I'm fine." Allie said, "You're crying. I know you're not. Come out and tell me what's wrong." Erin came out and said, "I'm having a bad day. High school sucks already." Allie hugged her and said, "The day's not over yet. Maybe it will turn good." Erin smiled and said, "I guess you're right." Allie said, "There's a smile. Now let's get back out there." Unfortunately, Erin's 日 did not turn good. At the end of the day, Erin tripped over her own feet and fell down. Everyone around her laughed. One of the 流行的 girls said, "Oh, my God! Did 你 just fall?" Erin 说 sarcastically, "No, I thought the floor needed a hug!" Another one of the 流行的 girls said, "She's like the mayor of Klutzville. She like literally tripped over nothing." The 流行的 girls continued to laugh. Another one said, "That was funny. Did 你 think it was funny, Erin?" Erin 说 sarcastically, "That was so funny I forgot to laugh." They left her lying on the floor alone. She began to cry. She then heard someone shouting. "Erin! Erin!" It was Paul. She looked up. He asked, "Are 你 all right? What happened?" She said, "I tripped over my own feet, and I fell down. The 流行的 girls made fun of me." He said, "That's just absurd! Even if they aren't your friends, they should still ask if you're okay just out of human kindness!" He helped her up. She said, "Thanks." He said, "You're welcome. Are 你 okay now?" She said, "Yeah, I think so." When she got home, she told her aunt and uncle about her day. Her aunt said, "I'm sorry 你 had a bad day, Erin. Don't get discouraged, though. The 秒 日 is never as bad as the first." Erin went back the 下一个 day. Her aunt was right. The 秒 日 was a good day. Erin knew she would make it through with a little help from her friends. At the end of the day, she walked out with her 老友记 唱歌 the Beatles song, "With a Little Help From My Friends". The 流行的 girls made fun of them, but they didn't care. They had each other. Who needs 流行的 girls anyway? They're nothing but a bunch of preppy bitches.
A few hours later, Una and Everett were comfortably snuggled up together on the couch, sharing the last of Una's chocolates which lay in the open box between them, as the credits rolled on the movie.
"That was so good," murmured Una, her head resting on Everett's shoulder. "You know - I was looking 前锋, 期待 to your plans, whatever they were going to be, but I was really hoping we'd be able to watch this."
Everett gave a small laugh and shook his head. "I wish I'd known. I could have saved myself all this trouble."
Una grinned. "This year, our Valentine's 日 plans were on me," she said. "Next 年 I expect it to be your turn."
Everett felt a warm rush at the thought of 下一个 year, that Una was so certain they would be celebrating Valentine's 日 together 下一个 year. But then... of course, Everett though. He wouldn't have considered anything different.
"I 爱情 you, Una," he said.
"I 爱情 你 too, Everett," she said.
