I've heard a lot of different stuff, but from some pretty reliable sources - Hilarie would have liked to have stayed on, but Mark was deadset on Lucas & Peyton having to end up together. He was more content to lose an amazing actress then give up on his dream couple...

And before some huge argument breaks out, I don't care if you have a different opinion! That's fine, just don't give me shit for what i believe.

I've watched that video that Hilarie made a few months before the finale and she talks about how SHE WISHES SHE HAD CREATIVE CONTROL. And I for one just don't believe that she just happened to decide to leave at the same time as Chad.

I dunno? I've never really looked into it. Anybody hear anything she's said about it in an interview?

Well I have no idea why she left, but I'm happy she left with Chad.

I love Chad so much but I saw the tape with his fans saying he was leaving the show or cast out due to money and I saw Hilarie's goodbye video so I think it's kinda clear why she left but who knows.

I think she left because she wanted more money, but couldn't get it!

I'm not sure, though.

I think once chad said he was leaving it was like 'Peyton has to go with him' Luke leaving without peyton after all theyve been through just wouldnt have been believable imo, its like after everything Naley splitting? -nobody would buy it would they?
The only way they could have kept Peyton is if lucas died and i never wanted that, cos after 6 seasons of backing leyton -for him to die and peyton having to move on would have made me pissed.
I think it was always marks plan for leyton to leave together, so if one goes -the other does too -markes a leytoner of course.

I'm not talking about money, I just think the whole story and probably even the show would've sucked with Peyton ONLY.

Chad wanted more money couldn't get it and decided to leave and since he was leaving Mark had to write Hilarie off as well. That's what I think happened.

I think it would have been sort of cool to keep Peyton on the show, but write off Lucas. I mean it would have been an amazing twist in things b/c Peyton was the one that might die and then in the end BAM Lucas dies some how. Now I'm not saying I would have wanted Lucas to be killed off, but it would certainly have been a twist.

Based on the video she made and the statements she has made... it seems pretty clear to me she didn't want to leave the show.
And considering both Hilarie Burton and Mark Schwahn have addressed the issue in interviews and Hilarie has seemed so devastated about leaving the show and Mark has stated that he would love to have them back on the show... it seems to make the most sense to me that CMM was the one who really wanted to leave and Hilarie got dragged along because she had no other choice.

And Hilarie Burton has said in an interview that she is so hurt that fans would believe that she would leave the show because she was demanding more money-- and at least imo she seemed pretty sincere.

I am pretty convinced CMM is the reason they are longer on the show.. and it just makes me dislike him even more than I already did.

I put the money option just because i wanted to cover all bases, but I could never believe that about Hilarie.

I wonder what Mark's childhood was like. To have this extreme need for Leyton to happen. But whatev, I don't miss them.

I believe she left becuse of CMM, like you guys already said! Mark wanted LP to end up together, so it wouldn't make sense for her to stay!

As much as I love Peyton/Hilarie, I'm glad that at least LP ended up together, that's what made sense!

im pretty sure she didnt want to leave but since chad was and lucas and peyton were together, she got the short end of the stick and had to get booted too. sucks for her.

And also, i believe Hil wanted Peyton to be happy. So she left to give her that too. I could care less about LP, but i think it was a really noble move of Hil to do that. And way more classy than Chad.
