i think the season 4 finale is the way that he has always planned on ending the show. i mean they all thought that season 4 was most likely going to be the last season, so they ended it in a way that they felt like it should end. everybody happy, the right couples together... back on the rivercourt.... Lucas alive... lol

because even lucas and petyon would be togheter brooke and pet will be bff still really brooke should be with julian there a nice touch

If Lucas died then the show would end because he wouldn't let Leyton finally be together and then just have Lucas die and Peyton get married with someone else.

No, cause Mark has said in lots of interviews that he roots for Lucas and Peyton. So that would just be weird. And anyways, the show wouldn't end happy if Peyton didn't end up with Lucas. And the whole show would be kinda "wasted", cause a huuuge part of the show is about the "comet", you know?
