Why Itachi Killed His Own Parents?

the uchihas were plannig to attack konoha and they used itachi to spy on them but secretly he was working with konoha. so the village elders and the third hokage orderd him to kill them. but he would have been able to stay i konoha if he killed all of them but he loved sasuke soooo much that he ruined his own life so that sasuke could live. after itachi dies madara told sasuke every thing so now sasuke wants revenge on konoha. so itachi was a good guy after all :P

yea. he used to be anbu, so as part of his job, he spied on his clan, because they were planning to conduct a coup d’état , and itachi knew that this would lead to another Ninja War, so he had to kill the entire clan including his parents but not sasuke.
