Nagi no Asukara, the original 动画片 project from P.A. Works and ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine, is slated to air 下一个 year. A 日本漫画 series adaptation will debut in the magazine 下一个 spring.
The series' staff announced the release dates after screening a promotional video at the Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival event at Makuhari Messe on Saturday. The video revealed a new character named Kihara, but the event did not reveal the character's voice actor. The singer 射线, 雷 (To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness, Waiting in the Summer) appeared as a special guest at Saturday's event to perform an image song for the anime; the promotional video used a short version of the song.
Toshiya Shinohara (Black Butler, The Book of Bantorra) is directing off scripts supervised 由 Mari Okada (Black Butler, The Book of Bantorra, AnoHana, Hana-Saku Iroha). Buriki (Haganai, Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl) is in charge of the original character designs.
Kana Hanazawa and Natsuki Hanae are leading the cast. Hanazawa will play Manaka Mukaido, a middle school girl who is indecisive and prone to crying. Hanae will play Hikari Sakishima, Manaka's caring childhood friend.
