After years of playing coy, Miley Cyrus finally speaks out about her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas.
"We became boyfriend and girlfriend the 日 we met," Cyrus says in the September issue of Seventeen Magazine. "He was on a quest to meet me, and he was like, 'I think you're beautiful and I really like you.' And I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, I like 你 so much.'"
The teen stars, now both 15, never went public with their relationship – Cyrus 说 they were "just really good buds" – though 粉丝 and reporters alike were onto them.
"Nick and I loved each other," Cyrus says now. "We still do, but we were in 爱情 with each other. For two years he was basically my 24/7. But it was really hard to keep it from people. We were arguing a lot, and it really wasn't fun."
After they broke up at the end of 2007, Cyrus tells Seventeen, "At first I bawled for a 月 straight. I was so sad. I just went into this weird funk. And I dyed my hair black. When we were dating, Nick wanted me to get highlights – and so I did that, and I got myself looking great. And then, on the 日 we broke up, I was like, I want to make my hair black now – I don't want to look pretty; I want to look hard-core. I was rebelling against everything Nick wanted me to be. And then I was like, I've got to be 由 myself for now, and just figure out who I really am."
Cyrus doesn't rule out getting back together with the Jonas brother one 日 – though a 来源 told PEOPLE he's now dating fellow 迪士尼 Channel 星, 星级 Selena Gomez, 16.
"Maybe he'll be my best friend for the rest of my life 或者 maybe I'll end up marrying Nick Jonas!" Cyrus says.
But for now, she's happily single. "Since [the breakup], I've realized that I've met so many great guys, but I like being the girl nobody can have," she says. "No one can touch me, no one's mine. I'm myself. I think it's sexy to do your own thing."

Teen sensation Miley Cyrus says it might be time to hang up her Hannah Montana wig for good.
"We're thinking this is our last season," she 说 Monday, in an interview with E! News to air Tuesday night.
But the star, who turns 16 in November, points out she's been hard at work playing her pop 星, 星级 alter ego since she was 11.
"It seems like it's been on, like, longer," she says, of the hit series that is about to begin its third season.
"I just think we did a lot of episodes. We basically did two seasons in one season last year. Usually people would do one season that would be, like, 16 episodes, and we did almost 30 episodes!"
While Cyrus's rep tells E!, "We do not know if this is the last season," the 迪士尼 folks 确认 that the future of the 显示 remains open-ended.
"Miley 说 it best when she 说 she's delighted to be part of the 迪士尼 family," says a rep at Disney. "We start production on the third season of Hannah Montana on August 4 and have an option for a fourth season beyond that. We look 前锋, 期待 to the Hannah Montana feature film coming to a theatre near 你 in Spring 2009."
Cyrus, too, says she's still with the 迪士尼 kinfolk for now.
"I'm still with my family. 你 know, they're safe. They always feel like home, and that's what I 爱情 about the company. They are family."
