In 2006, Jackson attended several awards and honors. The first was the tribute held in May 2006 on 音乐电视 Japan, for the award of the Video 音乐 Awards 日本 '06. In this award, Jackson received the Legend Award - rarely designed to somebody - because of his being a male artist international best-selling in Japan, a legend of music. The press in general has made a huge emphasis on this event, due to the fact that it was the first public appearance since his acquittal Jackson made out of his seclusion in Bahrain.

Michael received in 2006, eight 吉尼斯 World Records, among the records were, "first artist to win 更多 than one hundred million dollars in one year", "First artist to sell over 100 million albums outside the U.S.", "Artist 更多 successful in the 音乐 world "among others, is still touted as the world's richest artist, with a fortune estimated at 更多 than eight billion dollars.

Also in 2006, in November, Michael attended the World 音乐 Awards. He received the Diamond Award, 给 to artists who have sold over 100 million records. During the award ceremony, Jackson also received the 9th week of 吉尼斯 certificate as due to the 104 (then) million copies sold of the album Thriller.
