Jane Eyre 问题

Why does Mr.Rochester still flirt 或者 evn bother spending time with Ms.Blanche Ingrim if he is in 爱情 With Jayne ?

Well the most obvious time i noticed Mr.Rochester liked jane was in his bedroom after his 床, 床上 went on 火, 消防 and they had "their moment" :) then straigh aftert that Mr.r went off to Ingrim park and brouth back miss ingrim to thornfield . he wanted jane to be there every night after 晚餐 , i thought then he was in 爱情 . . . but then he still seemed to like miss Ingrim .
Can anyone explain this to me 更多 clearly just the method behind his madness :)\thank 你 xxxxxxxxxx.

Jane Eyre 答案

TheJoker29 said:
Rochester actually explains why he pretends to be marrying Blanche Ingram - to wind Jane up and to make her fall "as madly in 爱情 with me as I was with you" as he says in Chapter 24 of the book.
Sorry about the quotation answer, but I'm studying Jane Eyre at the moment, so it's sort of 秒 nature to me!

Yes, great answer, Read the book. It will explain it all. It may seem a daunting task but is so very good.

Rochester loves Jane. He doesn't care at all about Miss Ingram. Mr. Rochester appears to court her in order to make Jane jealous. In the meantime, he's trying to find out if Jane really loves him (the gypsy woman). But I think he's also afraid of what will happen then : he doesn't forget he's married and that Jane would never accept this relationship if she knew... I think he's trying to resist his 爱情 for Jane (because of his past), but when she proclaims her 爱情 for him, he proposes to her (with a "god forgive me")...

yes i agree! maybe he did that to risist his 爱情 for jane! and try to do something that makes sense to him and people, u know falling in 爱情 with a governess and marring her!! people will reject this idea and would only think that jane fooled the old man for money

according to Mr.Rochester he did that to make her jealous, and to make her as much in 爱情 with him as he was to her... but sometimes i feel that he was lying! i feel like he wanted to marry her for her postion maybe... 或者 for her money 或者 her beauty... any way i believe he only married her to get some thing useful but not for love

Mr Rochester's character is a man of many hidden depths, he comes across as a man who is serious, unperdictable, aloof and far from passionate, and being a man of the world he is fully aware of Jane's attraction towards him and enjoys playing little mind games with her. His flirtations with Blanche Ingram is his way of seeing how Jane would react and as the story progresses we realise that mr Rochester is equally in 爱情 with Jane.
