He is not mean to Bella.The thing is he has got a really bad temper.He want every best things for Bella and he knows wat is good and wat is bad for her.So he is trying to bring her to the right path.

its not that he is really mean to her... its just that he loves her and thinks it would be better if he doesnt talk to her and stays away from her. he also doesnt want her to find out he is a warewolf, so that is part of why he stays away.
