Hull City moved into the Championship automatic promotion places as they claimed a 3-1 success against Barnsley at Oakwell.



Goals from Dean Marney, Ian Ashbee and Dean Windass secured The Tigers' victory as Phil Brown's men rose to second, while Barnsley remain four points above the drop zone.


Hull went close in the first 分钟 when Lewin Nytanga's backpass had calamity written over it as his header wrong-footed goalkeeper Luke Steele; but Steve Foster saved his team-mates' blushes, clearing off the line.


On five minutes, it was Barnsley's turn to threaten with Jon Macken working himself...

A superb late header from Hull captain Ian Ashbee kept his side in the hunt for automatic promotion and dented Crystal Palace's play-off hopes.

Mark Hudson hit the post for Palace early on, before Hull's Dean Windass smashed a free-kick against the bar.

Fraizer Campbell put Hull ahead on 18 分钟 with a sharp finish from 20 yards, but Palace levelled after a defensive mix-up let Scott Sinclair in.

Ashbee converted Dean Marney's corner to settle it on 85 minutes.
