Hugh’s jaw dropped. How did she know? Elyon must have told her…
“I…” Hugh muttered
“Hugh what’s going on?” Lisa looked at him pleadingly, then her gaze fell back on the papers she was holding. That was when Hugh realized what they were.
Elyon’s drawings. Drawings of her and him, somewhere that probably should have been a toy store. On every drawing Hugh had a big 问题 mark above his head.
“I…” he muttered again, not being able to find a right word.
What did he say? Did he confess everything? She wouldn’t believe him.
“Honey, I get a call from Angelina saying that her kids are asking Brad to play ‘Lost daddy’ with them” Lisa exhaled “that Elyon told them it’s the weirdest game ever, but 你 end up with tons of toys.” Lisa got up from the 长椅, 沙发 and approached Hugh. He was frozen.
He couldn’t 移动 how numb he was.
“I asked Elyon what’s that about…” Lisa furrowed her eyebrows “She told me 你 asked her million 问题 in return for toys. She told me it’s the coolest game ever” She looked at him, Hugh still couldn’t move.
His 心 started racing.
“She told me… that in the game, 你 don’t know anything. That 你 pretend that 你 just woke up on Saturday in ‘this’ world, that 你 lived in some other, and that 你 have no idea how 你 got here.” Lisa placed her hands on her hips.
“Then… I thought about it… 你 did act strange starting Saturday… But I just thought 你 were a little bit out of your usual self.” She pressed her lips together, Hugh just stood there, in front of her, not able to make any moves.
“But… turns out, 你 were completely lost! I should have realized the moment 你 pushed me away that night!” Lisa raised her hands above her head, as a sign of anger and desperation. Hugh’s 心 started pounding like crazy.
“Hugh… what’s going on?” she asked menacingly.
“I…” he tried to say something, but he couldn’t. It wasn’t his fault, his body was disobeying him.
“Do 你 have amnesia?” Lisa came closer, demanding an answer. Hugh shook his head a little. He didn’t think he had amnesia. His eyes stayed focused on hers. He started shaking a little.
“Hugh! Tell me! What’s going on?!” she almost yelled. When Hugh didn’t answer, she clenched her teeth and asked “What’s Nicholas middle name?”
Hugh glared, he started swearing a little, his breathing becoming shallow.
“David!” Lisa yelled at him, coming closer “And why did we choose that name?” she asked yelling again.
Hugh’s chest started aching “Because we wanted to thank 支撑, 海岸 for everything he’s done for us!” She came even closer, anger 展示 on her face.
Hugh couldn’t think of what to say, but he didn’t have an answer to anything.
It wasn’t his fault!
His legs started trembling, the living room around him started spinning a little, the pale 颜色 of it turning into blur. Only Lisa’s face stayed clear.
“It’s like I don’t even know you! Who are you???” she yelled again “What happened to you?” and again “You seriously don’t have a clue about this world? Cause Elyon 说 你 asked 问题 as if we weren’t married, nor had kids, nor lived together.
She told me the ‘lost’ daddy comes from a whole different world where none of this exists!” she shook her head.
“You seriously believe you’d been thrown in here, don’t you?” she sobbed a little, being a few inches away from him.
Hugh’s chest started hurting again.
He couldn’t focus anymore
“Answer me!” now she was crying desperately “Please, answer me!”
Then, Hugh felt his 心 tug.
Instantly, he thought it was from the sadness and helplessness enveloping him. But then he realized.
Trembling, shortness of breath, dizziness, sweating, chest ache.
“I think … I’m having a 心 attack”
My last words?
