Although, it depends on what this film is like. I'm seeing it sometime in the next week, and if they've mutilated it, I certainly don't want them to continue with the other books.

i thought the film was great even if it was a bit off from the book

the film was good but a lot of people didn't like it. They thought it was going to be a big hit and when it wasn't they were disappointed so i don't think there will be any more movies

i need my actual golden compass end! that's what ticked me off with the first film. had to make it a happy ending...*grumble*

lol at the moment it adds up to 101% and yes i do think the books should be made into films as even though the first one was moaned about they can learn for the other two

The books among the best I've ever read, but if the other two movies would be as bad as The Golden Compass, they should just leave well enough alone. Too many great books have ended up horrible movies.

No...anyway, what other books? The Subtile Knife and The Amber Spyglass? You mean that only The Golden Compass is a movie? Oh. Well, I don't think movies that were made from books should never have been made! Movies suck! I love reading books!

The fact that they didn't kill Roger in the film would make it harder for the next two films to flow as Lyra is often motivated by the thought of having led Roger to his death. However, I think it could have been done, although films never life up to my expectations.

They are too long, wonderful and detailed to be squeezed into films; I think the trilogy should be made into a series instead. With a good long series, you could get EVERYTHING in. Personally, I would love to see a really accurate and well-done anime adaptation. People shake their heads vigorously at this idea because they are British books that would not suit being turned into a Japanese anime - but why? Why can't people make films/tv shows out of books from different cultures? A large portion of His Dark Materials isn't even set in this world at all, so what difference would it really make? The anime Monster is set in Germany and it doesn't seem wrong, odd or out of place at all. Plus, in an animation, you never have to worry about casting the right actors/actresses (except where voice is concerned), or difficult special effects.

The BBC dramatisation was better than the film, so I'd prefer another 2 or 3 seasons of that to future films.
