Troy fell in love with Gabriella Montez, a new student at East High School, played by Vanessa Hudgens. They're so in love with each other, that Troy even joined the school's drama class staging a musical, just to be close to Gabriella.

Gabriella is not only a member of a school's drama class, but also a member of a science club. She's very bright and intelligent.
