Of all of my peeves, this definitely bugs me the most. It's like if you're gonna pick a fight then at least have the decency to keep your original post. Don't call someone names, wait for them to fight back, and then 编辑 your 评论 to subtract the insults so 你 can look like 你 didn't do anything wrong. It's just the most cowardly and kind of annoying thing to do. At least when I throw an insult I have the balls to leave it up and the respect to acknowledge that it may have not been the nicest thing to say and be up front about my snarkiness. People like that are why I have to screencap any debates, even the small ones I get into, in case they escalate and the person is puts on the victim act. It's like grow up and stop playing innocent. It's just the most annoying thing in the world to me when someone does that and then a third party person--who has no knowledge of the situation--comes in and starts chewing me out accusing me of being the only person being rude because someone just couldn't stick to the truth and hid behind the 编辑 feature.

I know, I know, butthurt alert! The alarms are going off. Lengthy introduction rant aside I have a few reasons as to why I think people shouldn't abuse the 编辑 button.

First and foremost, I always seen the 编辑 button as a 'lord help me I made a typo!' button. I've always viewed it as a way to avoid embarrassing spelling and grammar mistakes 你 made the first time around. Not as a malicious 'mu ha ha ha, I'm gonna make this guy look like a real douche' button. I feel like it's almost abusing the 编辑 feature to go back to an argument 或者 an insult 你 typed and 编辑 it out for the sake of making yourself look good. I'm all cool with someone taking an insult out of a 评论 because they decided that didn't want to offend a person after an impulsive spur of the moment anger rant. I'm also all for going back and rewording something if it came off 更多 offensive than 你 initially intended. But if your doing it just to make your opponent look bad, then isn't that kind of just weak?

Which brings me to point two. It's rather cowardly to pick a fight with someone and then back out in such a way, when things aren't looking to good for you. In real life 你 can't suck the words back into your mouth, so I think people should grow up and realize that the same is true on the net. While yes, the insult may be gone in a physical sense, but it may 或者 may not still be burning in the other person's mind. Believe it 或者 not, the person typing back to 你 has feelings too. I understand that arguments and debates get heated, but that's no reason to take the wimpy way out.

Point three; it is annoying as all heck when someone says something like "Liking *insert ship* is wrong and sick" and I (or anyone else) leave a such as "Making 评论 like that is rude and disrespectful" and then going back to the 民意调查 after a 分钟 或者 so to see that the 评论 now reads "I don't have anything against *insert ship* but I don't like it". And then beneath it I have two 或者 three other users telling me to "back off" and "leave leave him/her alone because he/she didn't do anything". That is a load of bull! And the editor knows it. It's like the third party people don't have the real and full story and now 你 have a mess of people getting mad at you.
Not cool at all. If you're wrong, own up. Have the respect and take the initiative to say 'okay, I was wrong, we were both wrong, I'm sorry.' Don't 编辑 your 评论 just to slander others 或者 get a user mobbed and bashed.

Last but not least; honestly, depending on the situation 你 probably won't even have to resort to such a childish method. I personally am really forgiving and really easy to work with. It's easier to apologize 或者 civilly talk things out with me than it is to play silly games like the 'editing game'. Believe it 或者 not most people don't take kindly to being painted as the bad guy, it takes two to fight. I'm gonna be up front--I don't play around--if 你 get into a heated argument with me, I probably have it screencapped (just because this has happened to me so much. Worry not, I 删除 it when the issue has passed) and I am not above posting 说 screencap if I notice editing. I'm not going to let people make a fool of me. And I'm pretty sure there are others who do the same.
That said, it's way easier to just talk it out, unedited. Again, I can't speak for everyone, but I personally am willing to forgive and forget if 你 just work with me. I think that talking things out with a person 你 are in a conflict with is much 更多 sufficient than playing editing games. Just talking things out tends to revolve stuff and doesn't leave as many 苦 feelings. Speaking from experience; I have gotten into some pretty heated debates, the ones who talked it out with me actually ended up on my 老友记 列表 where as the ones who did the editing--while I don't fight with them, there's still tension. I feel discomforted around them, even just leaving my opinion beneath them (even when it has nothing to do with them) because I feel like it might spark something up.
I've also had users apologize to me and then pull that 评论 editing thing (or an out right removal of all the bad things they 说 to me) and it feels like a stab in the back. Like yeah, thanks for saying sorry, but are your really? Talk it out. Don't try to play innocent.

That's pretty much all I have for now. This has been a reoccurring issue I've seen it happen to others and myself. Yes something like this had happened again recently so this was kind of me venting. Maybe some of 你 agree, maybe not. Feel free to leave a comment, I'm open to discussion.

 Yes, yes it is.
Yes, yes it is.
As some of 你 may know, I often suffer from grammar-induced rage blackouts. These can be triggered 由 anything from a misplaced apostrophe to the incorrect usage of "your" and "you're". So, I decided to do something about it.. mostly because I'm afraid the 下一个 dangling modifier I come across might send me spiraling into a violent rampage the likes of which have never been seen.

I understand that a lot of Fanpoppers are not native English speakers, and thus might not have as good a hold on our sometimes ridiculously complicated grammatical rules. Obviously, I can't fault them for their mistakes....
