As some of 你 may know, I often suffer from grammar-induced rage blackouts. These can be triggered 由 anything from a misplaced apostrophe to the incorrect usage of "your" and "you're". So, I decided to do something about it.. mostly because I'm afraid the 下一个 dangling modifier I come across might send me spiraling into a violent rampage the likes of which have never been seen.
I understand that a lot of Fanpoppers are not native English speakers, and thus might not have as good a hold on our sometimes ridiculously complicated grammatical rules. Obviously, I can't fault them for their mistakes. Still, hopefully this little guide will help them as well as the rest of you, who should just plain know better. :)
I give you:
"The 最佳, 返回页首 5 Grammatical Errors That Make Bliss
Want to Tear Her Hair Out and Scream Like a Banshee"
1. The Misplaced Apostrophe
The most heinous and widespread of all grammatical mistakes. 你 can't go nimbly bimbly throwing apostrophes around whenever 你 see an "s". Here's how to use them correctly:
Apostrophes are used most commonly in two cases:
a) To signify a missing letter, as in the case of contractions like can't for cannot, 或者 in abbreviations like gov't for government
b) to signify a possessive, such as "Nikita is Janie's cat" meaning that the cat belongs to Janie.
Under NO circumstances should an apostrophe be used to signify a plural! The following sentences are all incorrect:
"Apple's $0.29/lbs"
"The Nazi's were evil"
"I wish I knew how to properly use apostrophe's"
Here is a quote from an excellent link on apostrophes:
"If in doubt it is better to leave an apostrophe out than to put it in. This is because if 你 leave it out incorrectly this will be put down either to an oversight 或者 to an affinity with the 查看 of George Bernard Shaw [who thought them unneccesary]. On the other hand, if 你 put it in incorrectly this will be attributed (rightly) to ignorance."
2. Your vs. You're
Apparently, it's necessary to point out that these are not interchangeable. They actually mean completely different things.
You're is the contracted form (like an abbreviation) of "You are".
- As in, "You're a moron".
Your is a possessive pronoun. It is used to signify when something belongs to someone other than yourself.
- As in, "Your mother was a 仓鼠 and your father smelled of elderberries"
3. Their, There, 或者 They're
Their misuse is widespread, but there is hope; they're not as tricky as they seem.
Their is a possessive pronoun meaning "pertaining to 或者 belonging to them"
- "It was their horrible spelling that caused her brain to explode"
There is an abverb meaning "that location" which is farther away than here.
- "Bliss is over there making out with John Krazinski"
They're is a contraction of "They are".
- "Dwangela rocks my world, they're totally meant to be together"
4. Affect vs. Effect
This is not a case of lazy American spelling. 你 cannot simply choose at 随意 whether to start this word with an "a" 或者 an "e". Again, these words mean different things.
Affect is a verb that has two common meanings:
a) "to influence"
- as in, "Bad grammar may negatively affect your sex life"
b) "to act in a way that 你 don't feel"
- as in, "She affected an air of innocence".
Effect is a noun that most often signifies "a result"
- as in, "I drank 7 龙舌兰酒 shooters last night and I'm definitely feeling the effects this morning".
5. It's and Its
Another confusing contraction.
Its is a possessive pronoun meaning "pertaining to 或者 belonging to it".
- "I 爱情 that cat, its purr is so melodic" (the purr "belongs" to the cat).
It's is a contraction of "It is".
- "Good grammar: it's sexy!"
Lastly, there is absolutely, positively no such word as its'!
So, there 你 have it. I really hope this kicks some bad grammatical habits in the butt. If not wanting to look like a moron isn't enough incentive, then do it for me. The 下一个 time 你 start to type "Bliss write's awesome article's", stop and think of me throwing my laptop across the room in a fit of uncontrollable rage, and refer back to this guide.

I did it again.
I accidentally hit the "start chat" tab again.
And couldn't remember how make it go away.
I've had this problem a few times before and have to re-learn it every time.
For some reason, I'm always under the impression that the solution lies under my 个人资料 settings.
It does not.
So now there is an 文章 to remind me, and anyone else who needs it, how to get rid of this dang thang.
Step 1: Under the "contacts" tab, click "I am online." The words, not the pencil. If 你 click the pencil, it will complicate things and you'll have to reload the page.
Step 2: Click "Log out."
It's not the most obvious way out, but it's easy once 你 finally remember how to do it, so I hope this helps cut down on some frustration. (If not for you, at least for me 下一个 time I accidentally open it and frantically 搜索 for a solution. =P)

Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring 或者 annoying. Here is a 列表 of steps to help 你 out.
1. Try to have 更多 than three 答案 if possible. If the 问题 is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither 或者 Katy.
2.Always have pictures for the 问题 if it isn't a yes, no, 或者 maybe question. Pictures bring in 更多 粉丝 and make the picks 更多 interesting.
3. Try to ask 问题 that people haven't already asked and 问题 that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.
Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If 你 feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.

I'm guessing a lot of people have all ready have found this problem but if 你 don't understand then it's like this:
One 日 I decided to create a new club of something that didn't exist as a club yet but I couldn't find the 'Create a club' button. Trust me I looked high and low for the thing but couldn't find it. When I logged out of my account at last there I saw it, the 'Create a club button' so when I clicked on it they of course asked me to sign back in but when I did I was the same position I was in before clicking.
For some people this problem don't seem to happen but for people like me who want to create 俱乐部 but can't because the button is unavailable well it's frustrating. I've been looking abound for some kind of answer but the only thing that came up was a link link
this only leads to 你 having to sign in again. I don't know if it's the signing in thing that's the problem but it really shouldn't be.
Please fix this problem Fanpop!
