“Could Jake come and stay at your house this weekend? Im going out of town and I don’t really wanna leave him here alone,” 你 say.

“I think he’ll be fine,” he says. “Besides Im going outta town too,” he says.
“Oh… Why didn’t 你 just say that in the first place?” 你 ask annoyed.
“Im sorry,” he says, like that’s all he can think of to say.
“Ok, well I’ll just ask Wanda do it,” 你 say.
“Ok,” he says. “Sorry I couldn’t help,” he says like he feels bad.

“Well… I have this friend, and her daughter absolutely loves you, and her birthday is October 20th , and I was just wondering if 你 would, 你 know come to her house as a little birthday surprise?” 你 ask hoping he would say yes, 你 know this would make Meleah very happy.
“Yeah, I guess I could come hang for awhile,” he says.
“Oh thank 你 Marshall, shes gonna be so happy!” 你 say with a smile.
“Well she better be,” he jokes. “Oh hey, I gotta go Kon Artis is callin me,” he says.
“Ok bye,” 你 say.

Its October now, the 日 after Marshall’s birthday. 你 haven’t talked to him sense 你 asked him to come to Meleah’s for her birthday. Jake has been bugging 你 for the past week about seeing Hailie, they go to the same school, but 你 haven’t been letting him go over to Marshall’s and Marshall wont let Hailie come here, 你 for some reason don’t want to see Marshall because its just too awkward to be around him. Your sitting around the house when Jake comes into the living room and hands 你 his cell. “What am I supposed to do with this?” 你 ask holding it up, as he sits 下一个 to you.
“Read that,” he says and points to it.
“What? Oh… ‘My Dads getting annoyed with me askin to come over so hes gonna bring me over in a little bit’,” 你 read.
“Marshalls gonna come over here!?” 你 yell.
“Aww come on Mom, I haven’t hung out with Hailie for over a 月 outside of school,” he complains.
“Fine,” 你 say and hand him back the phone… A few moments later theres a knock at the door. 你 stand up and go to the door, 你 open it, Marshall stands there with Hailie. Jake comes to the door and stands 由 Hailie… They both stare at you. 你 let them in and close the door. Hailie runs off with Jake.
“Hey,” Marshalls says. “Been a while huh?” he asks.

“Sure,” he says. 你 head to the 厨房 Marshall behind you, 你 go to the fridge and grab a bottle of 可乐 out of the fridge and set into the counter, 你 pour it into glasses then put some ice in to them , 你 hand Marshall a glass. He takes it and sits down at the table. 你 sit down across from him. 你 look down at your glass and start stirring around the ice 由 turning the cup around, Marshall starts to do the same. 你 sit there for about 5 分钟 of awkward silence… Suddenly Marshall stands up. He leaves the kitchen… “Hailie!” he yells… 你 stand up and peek out the door, Hailie comes from downstairs… Without saying a word, he grabs Hailie’s arm and brings her out the door 你 go over to the window and watch them drive away. A few 秒 later Jake comes upstairs.
“Mom! What did 你 do!?” he yells.
“Nothing, I gave him something to drink and then he randomly got up and left without saying a word,” 你 explain.
“What the hell?” he asks.
“I don’t know, Im sorry,” 你 say and walk away. 你 go up to your room and sit down on the bed. 你 turn on the TV and watch some 随意 shows, 你 don’t even care what it is…
“Jake dinners done!” 你 call from the kitchen. He comes into the 厨房 about a 分钟 later.
“What is it?” he asks.
“Chicken, rice, and cheesy potatoes,” 你 say handing him a plate. He takes it with a smile then sits down at the 表 and eats dinner.
“Umm why is there two warm glasses of 可乐 on the table?” Nick asks pushing the glass away.
“Oh mine and Marshalls, we… didn’t finish it,” 你 say walking over to the 表 placing a glass and some 牛奶 on the table. 你 take the 可乐 away and pour it down the drain. 你 sit down and eat your dinner. 晚餐 is silent for some reason…
After 晚餐 你 watch Sweeny Todd… Its over around ten. “Ok Jake bed, now go,” 你 say a few 分钟 into the credits.
“Ok, goodnight,” he says standing up and walking away.
“Night,” 你 say…. 你 go up to your room after watching 30 分钟 of the news… 你 sit on the bed, 你 pick up your cell and dial Marshalls number. A few 秒 later he answers.
“Uh Abby, hi?” he says confused.
“Why’d 你 take off this morning?” 你 ask.
“I, umm remembered that I had something to do,” he says.
“Why didn’t 你 just tell me that, I thought I did something wrong,” 你 say.
“No, 你 didn’t, Im sorry,” he says.
“Its ok, I guess I’ll see 你 Tuesday, come here round 1 and then we’ll head over to Meleah’s,” 你 say.
“Alright ok,” he says.

“Bye,” he says then hangs up.
