Gap Theory
tiagih picked Gap Theory:
Normally I would wish that before picking people would research but that may not always be the case so i will summarize all the theories.

1.Young Earth creationists believe that the Earth is "young", on the order of 6,000 to 10,000 years old.

2.Old Age theory is all the theories except the Young Earth Theory

3.Gap theory posits that the six-day creation, as described in the Book of Genesis, involved literal 24-hour days, but that there was a gap of time between two distinct creations in the first and the second verses of Genesis, explaining many scientific observations, including the age of the Earth

4.Day-Age tries to reconcile these views by believing that the creation "days" were not ordinary 24-hour days, but actually lasted for long periods of time—or as the theory's name implies: the "days" each lasted an age.

5.Progressive Creation accepts mainstream geological and cosmological estimates for the age of the Earth, but posits that the new "kinds" of plants and animals that have appeared successively over the planet's history represent instances of God creating new types of organisms by divine intervention

6.ID tries to explain that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection

You know... Evolution is still compatible with Creationism. Too many think that they're antonyms- but they don't have to be.Some believe that god set it all up, and guided it. And it's amazing, the world's amazing- ironically, one of the greatest things religion has going for it is science xD. I think Evolution should be added.

Evolution deny that someone was responsible for how things became what they are. Evolution supports a "random" creation and a "random" occurrence that happened for reason they can't explain. I don't find evolution and creation synonymous because one goes back to religion while the other one is more agnostic .

I have no issue with science it only explain the how not the why, which is fine. Religion and science shouldn't be mixed if you ask me because science answers things on a physical level while religion may be more spiritual. I can't add evolution because that is saying that God has no say so or control in how things are made or brought about, if we have the potential of evolving ourselves into whatever suits us then why do we need to claim that God is the great creator

I understand you point I just don't agree with it is all

Not one single scientific theory based in evolution suggests that random things happened randomly one random day to create the universe. Evolutionary theories in fact support the opposite notion, ie that it isn't random at all, but all about patterns, reactions and adaptations.

^ HI ^_^

I called it random with " " because that is what it sounds like not because of what it is. My teacher once told me that "Random mutation is the ultimate source of genetic variation" so that is why i put the word "random" because of things like abiogenesis and macro evolution. Granted I don't believe that all evolution is based off random occurrences but ,y point still stands.

"that is what it sounds like not because of what it is."
- Perhaps you should call it what it is then, instead of what it isn't. Labelling those processes "random" misrepresents them, no matter how many quotation marks you throw around.

In any case, your perception of the "random"-ness of evolutionary theory doesn't mean it shouldn't be included in this pick. You are asking what other people believe about the creation of the universe. Just because you have interpreted evolutionary theory in a certain way doesn't mean that others, like ThePrincesTale, can't argue that creation theories can partner with evolutionary theories. If you are going to ask a question about the creation of the universe, then be open to all theories. Evolution set in motion by a deity is as valid a theory as any of the other theories you have listed here. You can debate that theory all you want, but why deny people the option to pick an option that represents their beliefs?

me: Hi ^_^
you:....
me: T_T

i based these picks on Christian theological theories of the creation according to the Church. I am not saying that evolution is not a theory of discussion, but its not what I based the rest of the picks on

I assumed the "hi" was sarcastic given your abandonment of our other conversation.

What ThePrincesTale is saying is that the ideas of the church and the ideas of evolutionary theory are compatible. Many, many churches have accepted evolutionary theory. Many, many religious leaders have supported the idea of evolutionary theory as part of christianity. Evolutionary theory is now among the ideas that christian religions accept, so don't see why it can't be included in this pick.

I believe in the Creation theory my religion brings: that things happened naturally, and some of it was just guided along by a higher force.

Which, really, isn't represented in any of those picks up there.

Mainly because after reading about evidence of trees and fossils that are thousands to millions of years old, there's no way Earth could only be 6,000 years old.
